Old timer said he did, to help vent to fill bases. Does it help ? Or is it plate adjustment or something else?
I'm still stuck on this think about using a cricket to chamfer the base of the cavities, that's not what I do at all....but it works?. I leave the edges of the holes razor sharp and break the edges of the blocks with a file as per Ben's photo, that way the air can escape from around the bases. This is something I learned to do with Accurate moulds because the top of the blocks and sprue plate close together literally air tight and it seemed that I was always chasing a bubble right around the edge of the bullet base, or would have one just under the surface
wouldn't doubt you do things that nobody else does that's a waste of time too.
Regarding Accurate molds, and only Accurate molds which are machined so perfectly that they are literally airtight, just barely breaking the edges of the BLOCKS with a file will provide just enough venting to fix that annoying bubble. Never really had that problem with any other mould. Anyone who thinks beveling the base edge of the cavity will help venting is not real good at thinking.Whadda think of that comment ? I think just the block edges around the sprue plate is where the venting matters most.
I wrote that, here on this board as I recall, some years ago. The "old timer" is a fool.now you're not making any sense.....
If it's not a waste of time then it has to be doing what he wanted, right or wrong ? ? So how can he being ruining the mould ?
What do you think about the quote I posted?
what did you mean by this ? Then...Ian ?I didn't say it was a waste of time, I said he was ruining perfectly good moulds.

One reason for rounded bases and even poorly defined lube groove bottoms is those sharp edges of the mould cool off quickly when the mould is open, so you get "cold mould syndrome" in just those spots?????. If your casting routine involves the blocks being open for any amount of time beyond the minimum to shuck the bullets and get it closed again rapidly, this can happen.
now you're not making any sense.....

He only started this thread to troll me and try to catch me in a trap because he got butthurt over some truth darts I sent his way last night. He later edited all of his snotty posts to me on that thread after waiting nearly two hours for me to take his bait, refershing the thread every few minutes, and then today asked to have that thread closed when I didn't bite. I have all the screenshots and so forth.Made perfect sense to me, unless your other comments meant something other than what their construction and syntax indicated.
At this point...... if you wanna play favorites be my guest, I HIGHLY RECOMMNED IT!Sure sounds like you're trying to pick a fight. I highly recommend it goes no further. And I do mean "highly" recommend.
listen to you..... !!! LMAO I started this thread for guys who can contribute and name call ! pour a glass of soda or water and where do air bubbles travel, sideways ? 9Although. that's what venting is for, but any other help can work better) Up. So it would make sense that lightly beveling the cavity bases would help. You don't agree, it's ok. of course I wouldn't do it unless I had to. We'll see.Regarding Accurate molds, and only Accurate molds which are machined so perfectly that they are literally airtight, just barely breaking the edges of the BLOCKS with a file will provide just enough venting to fix that annoying bubble.
