Got to be one of my all time favorite .30 cal. moulds.

Years ago, I sent Rick Tunnel ( Buckshot ) my SAECO # 315 mould. He was to plain base one cavity and HP the remaining g/c cavity. My Remington Model 788, 30-30 will get an opportunity to try this one .

It has been my experience that if you have a .30 cal. rifle and it won't shoot this bullet, you're going to find MANY MORE cast bullet designs that rifle won't shoot either.

Wow, that mould is much more in focus now than it was earlier!:)

Would be interesting to see what the HP does on a deer. Should be excellent pushed to around 1700 fps with some RE7.

Yes, sorry that was a bad photo earlier. I replaced it with a better photo. I've killed deer with the SAECO # 315 HP in the past. The 1st couple of deer I shot with the bullet , I realized that my HP pin was way too long and the bullet was basically a flying bomb. I looked through my photo files and found a photo of the " flying bomb mould ".

Now compare the above to my HP pin length now :

The deer that I shot with the #315 with the deep HP dropped and were dead, but inside the deer , it was easy to see the bullet was a failure. It was a matter of time before I would have lost other deer to bullet failure if I'd continued using the cast bullet with the long deep HP pin. Nothing to do but shorten the HP pin length and all is well now.

With the HP pin as it is now, at the velocities you mention Brad ( 1,700 fps ) , the design is a real good killer , expands and makes a good exit wound ( which I feel is super important for any hunting bullet ) .
