Hard to find a decent 141 or older 336 these days at a price a guy can swing.

It would have to be an exceptional 14/141 for me to give $400.00 for one. I had money down on a 14 in 32 Rem that had an original Lyman peep and nice wood in minty condition. The Feds raided the shop and that was the last I saw of it!

Gunbroker has them starting around $600. Crazy, I thought they would be around for years for a couple hundred. I can get one from a friend for $500 and I'm balking at that for a used pump rifle, albeit one I like. Probably best bet for me is to hold out and wait for a deal if such even exists.

I hunted in PA for years, the 141 was like Chevy pickups down there. Everybody had one. Where I was they were heavily worn... guys used them like a crowbar to pry the deer out of the mountains.

Well it did come with the Lyman sight , a box of ammo loaded with correct .321 spire point bullets and a box in unfired unprimed Winchester Super X brass . In 32 Rem of course . It also came with a K4 El Paso Weaver attached to a 760 in 30-06' . The wood isn't great , it has initials scribed in one side , it was reblued and used a little bit over 30 or so years . Neither rifle is exceptional nor exceptionally ugly . It's pretty hard to go wrong with clean tight 1935 and 1963-4 Remingtons when you get $150 in sights and glass 2 rifles and 40 pieces NOS Win 32 Rem brass for $400 .

I got a set of C4HD (CH anyway) dies for it . I had gone the unenlightened way first with 32 Win dies .......... Wow what a difference in function ! Not so great that I'm replacing all the RCBS dies with them but I certainly wouldn't hesitate to buy them again used at new RCBS prices .

The Model 14 is a nice rifle to carry I just had to be careful about remembering that it was a rifle not a 28 ga . :)

It got real stormy here, high wind and snow, so I slept in. Starting to die down now. The boy and I will shortly go in with frame packs and cut it up and carry it out. Brass may be a lost cause due to snow, but i'll dig around, might get lucky.
Metal detector works well! Nice bear!
