We have a .32. Fun little plinking round. Dispatches wabbits, wounded yotes, groundhogs.... well.
One of the issues of the .32 acceptance is a simple fact. Many countries outside of "Freedom" deem the .32 as the largest "safe" cartridge to permit the "servant / serf" class to have.

The "serfs" have all sorts of hoops to "slither, crawl, beg and buy" through to get to the "we trust you" phase.
Then you have to prove you can hit a target. But how do you practice if you cannot have a pistol ?
Then there are background searches to include Interpole. Psyco exams that are geared to expel most. Financial exams.. do you have enough money to pay the costs of those you protect yourself from and shoot.
Then there is the fact police gear, body armor for the tyrants... ect, only have to stop low powered rounds.
Just try to get a permit for a 9mm. Magnum revolvers... "rots of ruck" feller...

We have lived under the UN guidelines for 38 years. The very same ones our commy guided states are pushing. One little auto, one single shot shotgun and maybe a .22 rifle, both with a special hunting permit (costly) is about all us "servant / serfs" types should maybe be permitted to have.
You better have good friends if you want more.
Anyone from Canada or Australia, New Zealand.... want to share the fun the UN regs are....

I shoot and load for the 32. Have to admit I mostly use factory ball ammunition. Wife and I have a small 20 acre farm with Honey Bees here in Central Texas. I almost always have this thing or a Walther .22 in my belt when I'm in the woods. This is an older French Unique BCF/66 in 7.65. The Pistol design is great for suppressors as there is enough Barrel in front of the Slide to thread and the .32 ACP doesn't move that fast. Most facory loads are close to subsonic. Have the same gun in .380 but the .32 is quieter when suppressed. Can is a older 9mm Gemtech unit. Good for venomous snakes and skunks.

That will get the skunks taken care of.
While at Ft. Hood in 71-72 from about April to September there was a stretch of motor pool back fence that we did not walk at night. The skunks had big dens back there. Any human or other animal that went there was in for a long tomato bath. The stench was horrible within 50 yards.

ETA--I know that I dwell upon the social dynamics of citizen CCW more than most here. Sorry about that, but I live in a target-rich environment and Condition Orange is kinda reflexive.
I suspect you are just more vocal about it than many. There are things some folks are hesitant to discuss, or contemplate. (I've been repeatedly reminded of this lately.) Like some others here, I give serious consideration to what you write on the subject.

Thank you for the kind words.
