My mold is a original and that is what it casts, in straight WW, Al has done a lot of molds offering a .002 larger one, aloge with the standard size.

Hi Frank, After seeing your avatar, I had to add this, a 88 sporter along the same lines as yours. plus, I also use a original 323378 mold017 (640x158).jpg

Thanks for showing that, Jay.

I started collecting 88's about 12 years ago. I have 4 military rifles. 2 barreled actions and the one pictured in my avatar. I bought it off of Gun Brokers about 6 years ago, it was rebarreled in 300 Savage.

I started collect them because they are so much like the civilian Mannlicher's. When I was a teen, my dads oldest brother had one in 6.5x52 and he just raved about it and I got to handle it.

When I saw the 88's, I just had to have one.

Time does fly Frank. I think its been about 12 years since I discovered 88's. Have the sporter, 3 military rifles, a Kar 88 and a cut down rifle. Really like the 88, Only wish I'd discovered it sooner and accumulated more examples before the dramatic increases in value. None of my guns are huge stand outs for condition, but are ok. 4 are shooting. 2 are not, Have a 1889 Erfurt with a nice stock that's broken at the wrist but repairable and a 1889 Spandau war bond gun that's less a bolt head and pretty much the worst for wear. But the cool thing about it is that I believe it is very close to being the earliest surviving Gew 88. Not worth much. but an interesting and fun novelty. Jay

That bullet has shot well for me.my mold casts .324 yet shoots fine.with that long nose with just a bit of support it would seem odds are against it shooting.but it sure does shoot.
