Look what came in the mail today! A while back I sent Erik Ohlen my 4-cavity Lyman 452374 mould with instructions for him to modify it with his inset bar design with 1/4" pins (i.e. meplat diameter), with cavity mouths at .180", 7 degree taper, with a rounded tip, and a cavity depth of .315". This is exactly what I wanted! Yes, it was kinda spendy, but I have reached the age where I don't like working with cheap-ass tools (besides, I have a step-son and a grandson-in-law who are growing fans of the 1911, and I need the ability to mass produce). As usual, Erik's work is first-rate. I just broke the mould in by casting 10 lbs of 207 grain HPs in about 45 minutes (and I wasn't even trying to cast fast, heck I was too busy singing along with Too Slim and the Taildraggers!).
