Does anyone here mess with the 416 Barnes? Id love to see pics, hear of load data, see the guns, anything. Even if you just seen it in COTW and thought it was cool like me.

For those that don't know, it is a wildcat developed by Frank C Barnes author of Cartridges Of The World. It is basically a necked down and shoulder 45-70. I got to reading about it and am intrigued.

I have read about it. Something about 416 as a penetrator.

I also like the 50 Alaskan. It uses a straightened 348 not a 45/70 but impressive as well.

Looks like a fine lever action cartridge. We have 1886 in 33 Win that may get rebarreled. Have to compare the 40-65 1st.
We have two 50 AK's. One on a jap 1886 and the other a Winchester 71. Both handle a 500 grain at 1850 fps in a nice way.

I saw the title and I thought of Randy Barnes(Barnes bullets) and maybe some stomping cartridge.
I remembered reading of his “5ft nothing” little daughter hunting all over with her favorite .416 Remington Magnum!
But now I want one of those real .416 Barnes and a single shot rifle for it…….
A 45-70 necked down to .375 would be fun as well.
