Walnut media is what I will likely use. I will probably make one with sand because the weight isn't a bad idea at times.
You can of course mix the two to get a weight you're comfortable with.

I do have a pair of bags made from blue jean legs. It does work, but they're not as durable as shot bags.

Shot 3 more groups today. Nothing to write home about. Lots of vertical dispersion. Extreme spread is running 30-40. There were with 44 mag brass and 20, 20.3, 20.6 gr of H110 with a CCI 350 primer.
I figured a few things out regarding bench setup. That will improve when I get some sand bags made up.

I really think I'm going the wrong way on powder charge. The 21 gr load shot as well or better than anything lower. Next time I will try going up from 21 gr.

I also want to start using a different primer to see how that changes things.

Okay Brad, we gave you all summer to play with it. How's this project progressing? Got any updates?

No progress.
I need to get off my ass and go shoot.

Work has been kicking my butt lately. I changed stores and the new one is killing me. They have about broken my will.

Changed stores? What a drag. I'd have a breakdown if they took all my guys away and gave me a new batch to de-program/reprogram proper, that stuff takes years and you lose half of them in the process, if they don't manage to get you fired first. Personnel management can be like war, except without the Geneva rules.

Especially the reprogramming part. We get guys in, fresh from tech school who honestly believe their degree makes them the final authority on everything. They are the experts, and we're barely smart enough to hire them for their greatness. This is usually followed by the "deer in the headlights" stage of their education. One mechanic complained about everything being so dirty. Everything he worked on in school was so clean.

Had quit a few classroom-educated punks walk though here that couldn't change oil without screwing something up or asking questions. We have fun with some of them, though, the shop foreman and I enjoy some comic relief from time to time a their expense. He'll send fresh meat my way to ask for something like a can of "Blue Compression, not the red kind" so they can put the compression back in the engine after putting the cylinder head on, or a can of "white IC smoke" to repair ECMs or other modules. I have a jar full of little squares of paper printed with ones and zeros and a Deutsch diagnostic link connector and cable connected to the lid...it's for reprogramming modules. You know, just shake the jar and get the code in there.

This is a group of younger women, many single moms. They love to talk about kids, a topic I can live without discussing. They are touchy freely people who don't respond to a firm hand and sharp tongue. They are used to the RP making all decisions and being the collective brain. I am too old for that crap. I expect people to think and reason thru problems.

I am too old to change my ways for a bunch of millenials.

Got 30 rounds loaded last night. Some sand bags made.

And it is raining today. Even if it stops I have mid to deal with. I don't like mud.

Oh well, I am off next Tues too. Should dry out some by then.

Ian, I can't afford to bag one of those. Kinda odd that my house is in an area kinda like my life. We used to have fox squirrels but they were run out by grey squirrels.....
