Do you know the BHN? Probably should have asked that already! Should be easy enough to make the hardness to suit. Love those groups!

I don’t have a tester. I know the ones I have were a lot harder to load than the ones a guy sent me to test before buying the mold.

I actually didn’t like how hard they were to start but I can’t argue with the accuracy.

For sure about the accuracy! Any idea what the velocity should be?

No clue haven’t ran it across the chronograph. If I was guessing 14-1500 FPS. Definitely all I want with a 460gr bullet in the light encore.

I thought about 1500 FPS or so. Which is black powder velocity, and plenty enough for almost anything.

Heavy bullets penetrate well at any speed. I once shot a deer with an 1858 Enfield. Used a 530 gr minie on top of 50 gr of Ffg. Might have been cruising at 1000 fps at the muzzle. Deer was around 90 yards away. I thought I missed as I heard the projectile richocet off the ground in the distance. Clean thru and thru in the upper lungs. At impact the projectile was likely running 750 fps.

Yeah, heavy bullets penetrate well. That load is going to hammer any deer or elk for that matter. That is an awesome bullet and load.

I was hoping to use it but did not want to waste a deer.

EHD went through our deer herd early this fall and killed many of the deer although we still have a good population. I had planned on shooting a doe to eat but got wind that most of the local butchers were turning them away.
Also talked to a conservation officer who recommended not eating them.

Dad killed a nice buck and it’s hooves we’re literally peeling off of it.

Another man from his church killed a buck that was covered in large tumors.

The dept of fish and wildlife say they are ok to eat but I don’t wanna play with diseases that could possibly kill me or my family.

Many have done it but it just wasn’t worth the risk to me.
