Wife got me a new lead pot for Christmas.
She ordered a 40 pound Magma with the PID. Should be here by the weekend.

Waiting for it sucks.

Nope, she said she feels no obligation to you. Sorry?

Rick says his will change my entire life. I think that may be a stretch but we shall see?

Wear a diaper the first time you use it. We don't want you wetting your pants. o_O

I dunno, he doesn't like cooked cabbage or being married, so "life changing" is a matter of perspective. I'm sure it will revolutionize your casting routine for the better, though.

Oh, Hi Rick!

Rick, I'm not old enough for that to be an issue. Yet......

I am looking forward to casting 20 pounds of bullets and never adding an ingot while casting!

Whipper snappers get so excited they loose control.

You should also be in great anticipation of the ladle actually fitting in the top of the pot.

Loose or lose?

Better than casting 20 lbs with out adding an ingot, you could add a pound or two periodically and not crash the the pot temperature.

Will see soon? If it gets here Sat as expected I can assure you it will no longer be new by the end of Sunday.

Anyone want to see photos or a video when it gets used the first time?

the warm up time is about 5 minutes longer than a 20 lb LEE..
you will want a good circuit for the pot to be on, they draw some amperage getting going.
after that they just cruise along.
you won't hear anything from the pot either so pay attention to it.

you can dump a 2 lb ingot in a nearly full pot without it changing the temp more than 10*.
I set the ingots on the piece of 1/2" steel I have on top of the pot for a minute or so before putting them in,
if you set them on the edge they will melt when your not looking.
I also warm my molds up on the edge of the pot it only takes a couple of pours to get them up to temp that way.

I have a couple dedicated circuits I can use. One is 20 amps and has just 2 outlets so I can make sure the pot gets that one all by itself.

20A should work just fine.
I know you don't want to turn on 2 of them at the same time on a 20A circuit.

My Magma 40 pounder takes about 10 minutes longer to 700 degrees than my RCBS 20 pound pot.

That time will be saved later when I don't have to stop and let the pot reheat after adding ingots.

The attached PID will be nice too. No more cord and thermocouple in the way.

yeah,,, it gets dark real quick when you plug them in and the wife gets in a hurry and plugs in the florescent lamp too.
there is a main pair of lamps on another circuit right above but they ain't good enough.
