Bergara rifles....

Hornady is never a bad choice. Made right here in Nebraska.
For top accuracy with hunting not an issue you are NEVER wrong to go Sierra MK. A 168 in the 06 would be really good.

The 168 & 175 are both obscene with 4064 & varget in 06 & 308.

I have 5 or 6 pounds of each on hand. I kinda wanted to work out a hunting load to send the data to Leupold for the custom turret.
After that I'll play around with all the match grade and cast bullets.....

I think I might give those 150gr Sierra Pro Hunter bullets a go. Possibly the Speer's as well.

You're going to have a harder time finding a load that doesn't work well than one that does. I second what Brad wrote about powders and bullet weights, almost exactly what I used to do with jax in the '06. Berger 150s shot incredibly well in my XCB with the standard '06 throat spec, like five into .40-caliber hole. 168 SMK's seem to like the typical, abrupt .308 throats better IME. I haven't hunted with jax in nearly ten years so I'm zero help there.

Cool. I'll give the 4064 a go first then with these 150's while I break in the barrel...

Those patches make it look like somebody already broke it in for you, should be good to go.

Right!?
Okay. 20 brad new WW cases FL sized, trimmed chamfered and deburred. Flash holes cleaned up and primer pockets squared.
50.0gr of IMR 4064 in all 20 cases, 10 loaded with 150gr Sierra Pro Hunters and 10 with Speer SP (an older box)
Scope will be here in 6-10 days, so I wait.........
Tomorrow when I get home I'll figure out where each bullet needs to be seated off the lands.
Hopefully range time happens before Thanksgiving?.....:oops:

4350 is also a time tested powder in the 0-6.
I have had super good luck with 4895 [I use it in the wife's 0-6 with my rem corelock copy's]
enough of that has been burned in the 0-6 cases to fight 2-3 world wars.

RL-19 and the Hornady bonded 165's has shot some real good groups and would be good for deer, my buddy used that load for his big elk, I prefer the interlock but he wanted pointy and bonded.
he hasn't had any complaints and has used them for deer too.

I probably would have used that powder since I have about 50 lbs of the stuff, but I also have 24 lbs of 4064 I need to do something with and it was already in the powder dump.

just an observation.
but I would bet the rifle is more sensitive to neck tension differences in the cases than it is to powder choice.

Wore a stock 116?,06 stainless Savage brrl out shooting 150g Sierra Pro hunters/Gamekings.Only rifle I ever had that kept getting more accurate going well into the red zone.Wont write the load but it was pretty durn hot with IMR4350.

Also, hit deer with more bang flop than any cartridge I've ever shot.....including some mag cals?It was/is an early 116,flat back.I beat the snot out of the factory plastic stock behind the recoil lug.Ended up being a test mule for working with injection stocks.Learning a lot which transfered nicely to later stocks. Not saying to,not shoot hot loads but.....don't be surprised if one day the bedding just gives up.That's one of the cons on cheap stocks. They're fine then,WTF.Smooth on EA 40 epoxy has the right resilience and really works well with every injection junky stock we've put it in.

Just ordered an NOE copy of the Saeco 315
Funds are a bit tight after the rifle & scope purchase so I ordered a 2 cavity GC.
Really looking forward to trying a few different molds in this rifle.
Hopefully working out a jacketed load won't be too much of an issue.

I think the 30 hunter bullet will work well for you on the higher end of velocity, and the 315 should work REALLY well if you work up between 13 and 14 grains of Unique in tenth increments, paying special attention to the targets. That's a little trick somebody passed on to me a few years ago and I've never failed to see it work if you have all your other ducks in a row at the loading bench.

I can't do cast in mine, I originally thought I would when I bought it.
but I just can't do it.
I kind of one trick ponied it and it's probably gonna stay that way until I can't shoot it no more.
