Bullet Trap

turn the snail trap 90*
then you make the back/top panel the striking panel and you run it all the way into the drum.
after that regular steel can be used and shaped to form the drum.
a flat bottom and a 45* top would work well enough.

Here's how I did mine; back or strike plate 1/2" plate; sides and bottom 1/4" plate; bottom or collecting vessel is 6" thick wall pipe that has a small section removed. The side has a small door that allows for collection of lead.

I will get a pic tomorrow. Now my trap is small but it could be enlarged using the same principal(s).

Here's some pics, such as they are. As far as splatter, it's not been a problem with most bullets (cast) as long as the alloy is fairly soft. Some noticeable splatter on the back of the paper targets with harder alloy. However, at the distances I shoot from (only pistol BTW) there hasn't been a single "fragment" touch the shooter (me). I usually shoot from 15 to 25 yards into this trap.
Well, tried to load pics and I am being denied because files are "to large". I've resized by 50% and still no go. Message me your email addy and I'll send the pics to you directly.
