Hahah. I have a friend that names them too.
I have a couple that have earned or others call a name.
My pop calls my 1909 Arg Mauser 35 Whelen "Misser". As first two deer I shot where not recovered.
First was in No VT in a big field. My friend happened to see the deer just after I did. He was on opposite side of field. There was a crest in center if field so entirely safe as we could not see each other even tho we was 2-250 yards apart. Anyhow snow was just starting ta fall and at the distance he couldnt tell it it was legal horned. I was about 100 yards and COULD. Threw his scope he said he saw that deer horizontal only two feet off the ground after my shot. I watched the deer "bounce" as it hit the ground sideways. Darned if it didnt get up and make it wobbly to the woods. Out of site of both of us. We got to where deer was shot and followed blood (that was quickly disappearing under heavy snow) to the typical thick woods ya couldn't crawl threw where he went in!! By the time we could there was 2" on the ground.

Second was along a ridge line. Pop used the rifle that hunt. Nice buck came up steepest part just behind and below Pop. He said he didnt know untill he was 75/80 yards. Pop had to take a left handed shot and said he couldn't see from Recoil what happened but did see him barrel azz down that steep hill side a couple hundred yards and outta site! No blood or hair found. :embarrassed:

From my past experiences with a Henry in 44 cal,I changed to a softer alloy and it fixed my key holding. The hard were just that,to hard to get a good grip on the rifling. I sold that one. I hated it. Bought a Rossi 92 in 38/357. Love it even with the 1/30 twist it shoots great. 6 deer with it so far..

Gonna update this. Think y’all have solved my problem, and have got softer “ACWW” bullets loaded. Life has interfered with my shooting again, so it will be spring before I can confirm to have it corrected. Collected 2 bucks with my muzzle loader during that season. So all is well with my hunting. I really appreciate the wisdom and experience y’all have shared with me. Keep up the good work! Harles

Regarding names for guns… my Tikka 25-06 is “Easy button”, my Mauser 30-30 is “Thirtytwice”, I had a 38 Arisaka custom with a 17” 8x57 barrel on it and everyone at the deer lease called “Loud Bob”, and my 22”.223 AR15 is called “80” from being an eighty percent build. My 30” H&R Topper 12 gauge is known as “Tree Trimmer”- and it is.
Back to the subject- I’ve had folks tell me that my bullets looked to be yawing from the pic that I posted of a particular target. The target was stapled to a beat up leaning pallet turned out to be the perceived problem.
