Cheap Targets

My friend shoots his 1903 Springfield with military sights when we go to the range with each other.

He needs a larger aiming point than most of us with scopes.

I made about 30 - 40 of these pretty quickly this afternoon.

These would also make for some pretty nice pistol targets.
Oh, did I mention CHEAP ! ! !

Damn, if that isn't one of the more practical, simple ways of doing things then I don't know what is.

Ben, you have a way for finding a quick, easy solution to many problems. Well done.

Brad,

I've been doing this for years.
I started not to post this and thought...." UUmmm, someone might like to see this trick."

Thanks Brad,

Ben

Ben,
I think you got something there! I intend to copy your technique. I save a few tin cans along anyway as they can be used several ways in the shop.

know a guy shoots the small coffee saucer size paper plates at the indoor range. Can always tell when he was there. a couple end up downrange. Yours look like they would work at 100 yards for lever gun cast bullet shooting

The beauty of the system is if the circle is too big or too small , all you have to do is change the size of the can and then make some more.

I'd love to have a dollar for every bullet hole I've put into one of my " Paper Plate Targets " through the years.

Yes, and the opposite for printer paper.
Bullets don't punch nice clean holes, they " tear " their way through the paper.

I hate targets made with computer paper !:mad::mad:

Ben,
I have found a way to improve Standard printer paper! Recently I lightly spray glue the backs of the targets and "semi Bond" them to my cardboard backer boards! This means they lay flat regardless of humidity and I get good punched holes except for spitzer bullets!

When we were getting ready to hunt in Africa, I made sure we could both put
5 for 5 on a 6" dessert paper plate at 100 standing over sticks, and quickly, we put
a 6 second limit on each shot from the time you had it in sight. No misses on the
real thing. I think the paper plates helped us.
