I might have screwed up. I delt for a very nice CZ 550 varmint in 308 with H-S stock. I want to shoot cast in it. 1 bullet is .980 long want to shoot it 1200 to 1350fps. other bullet is 1.020 long want to shoot it 1700 to 1850fps. My Rem 308 does this fine. My Rem. is a 10 twist. CZ has a 12 twist. Is this going to be a problem?

Load a few and shoot them, an unstable bullet that fits well won't lead your barrel. If you're playing ballistic battleship at 25 yds, find another bullet.

Unless you've got a suppressor on the end, trying it out won't hurt anything. You won't know until you try.

I was hoping someone would know about twist rates. I know I can load up some stuff & try it, but I really don't want to waste primers & powder plus drive 45 miles one way just to find out .But If I have to I will.

I have two rifles with factory 1 in 10 twists. One will shoot Lyman 195 grain bullets and other will not.

Well, a 178 ELD-X is 1.320" and they stabilize in a 1-12 twist. Your bullets should as well. I'd suggest the Berger stability calculator if you're really worried.

Now if I can just get this POS to feed right I will be happy. I have owned 2 controlled round feeding actions . This 550 is both. My first & last.
