My brother found this old Savage reloading equipment at a local flea market today. Not picture is a new bench top RCBS case trimmer with all the pilots, a set of the black Lee dippers and a three die set of Savage 45 ACP die. I'm getting the 38/357 magnum dies, and the lead bullet swaging kit and die sets, the entire lot was $50.

holy cow... hope your Bro. had his mask on.
The vendor made the offer, so he took it. Never even knew Savage sold reloading equipment, I was in my single digits when this stuff was mfg. The dies appear to be made like C & H dies, but not much information on the web about any of this stuff. Have all the paper work that came with the dies and swaging tools.

paper work is always good.
i refer back to the instructions for mine even though they are all setup for the press they go in.
it seems like i make a bunch then they sit for a couple of years and i tend to overlook some small detail that makes a big difference.

Hi,
With the present reloading supplies through the roof on top of the primer shortage...

Reloading Equipment is not bringing what it used to. as demand is not there.

Just sold a bunch of reloading presses on the Bay as not really much interest on the Forums.

Hate E-Bay but...

Managed to make my money back, or a little better, but...

Might get worse, also...

A lot of Kids today have no interest, anyway.

What the future holds?????????

Well, with that old, antiquey stuff, what do you expect?;)

Progressives, baby! The next generation know better, knows more, goes faster and does better than us old farts. They want PROGRESSIVES!

And... @Reloader762 , I never knew Savage sold such things. That is a really cool find.

i love my progressive presses.
there was a long period where i could either shoot or reload,,, but not both in any meaningful period of time.
still kind of that way but instead of it being short 2-3 week lengths now it's months long periods of reloading and then nuthin but emptying cases for a few months.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
I have a progressive still sitting in the box in the reloading room. Never had time to set it up when I had the $ and components were easy to get. Now I have the time, but I need components!!!

I got a swage press and jacket die years back for like $10.00. I still haven't done a thing with it other than figuring out that forming a jacket on an up stroke has it's downsides...like breaking a bench edge real easily!

Pick up my dies from my brother on Friday, soaked them overnight to loosen up the old metal preservative they were covered in and got them all cleaned up and ready to use.

The sizer dies on the Left is steel so it requires lube for sizing, the die in the center is different from what most usually see in a pistol die set it decaps and flairs the case mouth in one step and the last die on the Right is the seater/ crimp die which has a flat head seater stem. I also have the paper work that came with the die set that tell about how each die is set up and works.

I have a Savage Straight Eight press. Very innovative and interesting, not much in common with any other press.

I like old reloading stuff and am always looking for it. I have probably a dozen or more old presses, haven't used most of them (yet). Powder measures too.

There's a shop not far from here that dabbles in selling some used equipment. They've had a couple of old Herters presses there for about a year. Both in excellent shape and both with the adapters for modern shell holders. Gonna go in there soon and make a lowball cash offer for both, but most won't mess with them because they aren't new production. Way better presses than any of the Lee stuff, but people will buy the new lee for a higher price.

If you want to re-home those Savage dies, let me know.

@richhodg66 My brother and I are going to keep our die sets but he may be interested in letting go of the lead bullet swaging adapter for the Straight 8 press and swaging die sets he has. If you're interested, I can ask and see what he's interested in getting for them and I'm sure it will be a very fair price.
