My mother forwarded this story to me. I think there might be a hidden meaning?

Florida Woman Stops Alligator Attack Using a Small Beretta Pistol

Another good reason to have a concealed weapons permit.

This is a story of self-control and marksmanship by a brave, cool-headed woman with a small pistol against a fierce predator.

What's the smallest caliber that you would trust to protect yourself?

Here's her story in her own words:

“While out walking along the edge of a pond just outside my house in ‘The Villages’ with my soon to be ex-husband, discussing property settlement and other divorce issues, we were surprised by a huge 12-ft. alligator which suddenly emerged from the murky water and began charging us with its large jaws wide open. She must have been protecting her nest because she was extremely aggressive.”

“If I had not had my little Beretta .25 caliber pistol with me, I would not be here today!”

“Just one shot to my estranged husband's knee cap was all it took. The gator got him easily, and I was able to escape by just walking away at a brisk pace. The amount I saved in lawyer's fees was really incredible, and his life insurance was a real big bonus!”

Now you have us all thinking about our wives real intent, because most of us probably taught our wives to shoot!

When we went to Africa we were told you need not outrun the lion, you need to outrun the slowest person in your group. My daughter looked at her mother and said "Sorry Mom!".
It was a touching moment.

Like the little boy walking to church. His mother had given him two quarters. One for a candy bar and one for the offering plate. On his walk to church the boy dropped one quarter and it rolled into the storm sewer. The little boy looked up to Heaven and said, "sorry God".

X1 couldn't hit for beans on a stationary target , don't try to run though .
X2 would have soft soaped the gator and crushed it's soul . It would have looked about like soothing a scared puppy and tossing it in a wood chipper . (Might still be a little bit tender around that wound)
Ms 3 wouldn't be anything to worry about , out running her would be easy but I'm thinking that if the horse and carriage that ran over her in her 40s and the truck that hit her in her late teens and the 2 cows that stomped her bad enough to get her a fused wrist and a shoulder dislocation that a gator isn't going to do any better and if I don't make at least a good showing there will be hell to pay at the dinner table . Remember the race to the outhouse in Monte Walsh ?

Seems like I read a similar story about a gal in Alaska but she carried a Rohm 22 for bear protection .... :)
