Home security system

Not really sure if this is the best place or not so if a mod see's fit to move it to someplace more appropriate please do so.
I'm starting the search for a security (camera) system, wired is probably my first choice so I won't have to charge batteries. Small house so maybe 4 outdoor cameras will cover the grounds adequately, it looks like the camera quality is one of the most important pieces to the puzzle.
Does anyone have experience with a good quality system that is working well and you would recommend?

At this point I've done some reading and looking at systems (indoors) and the lighting makes them all look good.

I haven't looked into them "yet" but the system that has peeked my interest is exterior cameras mounted inside exterior motion sensor yard lights, if the light comes on the camera does at the same time. They record wirelessly and also have a mic and a speaker. Ya can let the intruder hear either you or something like the sound of a shotgun slide. They also work from a smartphone.
