mold blocks to cut in a lathe? And how does Accurate do it as he lathe cuts all of his molds? If I go ahead with getting a lathe I want to try cutting a couple of molds for my 12ga. slug gun.

I have searched a bunch of post on youtube but can't really find anything

A four jaw chuck and dial indicator for locating the mold block to the spindle axis. Then using a tiny boring bar.

Let me know how it comes out, I have been thinking about that for a while, lee sells the uncut blocks pretty cheep. I have removed the lube bands and altered the nose pretty successfully but never tried to make one myself.

Center the parting line on both axis using a pointer in the tailstock (tailstock must be perfectly centered), then tram the face with a test indicator. Bump the mould in the 4-jaw until the face is square and re-indicate the parting line in center. Repeat as required until both aspects are true. Drill, bore, and shape as required.

Tomme, if you apply Dykem (layout fluid) to the blocks then scribe your center lines, it will be easier to locate center with your pointer, scribe or wiggler/center finder chucked up in your tailstock.

Thanks guys. Trying to get a list of things that I will need. I have a dial indicator and a mag base somewhere. I had all kinds of tools from when I was a Maintenance mechanic. Some I have here with me. Others I think are at my mother's house.
