i am dummkopf

i finally got around to shooting my husky m46 in 9.3x57 with the 2-7x leopold. i was using the 280gr fn gc (bull shop) and imr4895. the middle target was for sighting it in. the bottom left target is around 1 1/4 - 1 3/8" (outside edge - outside edge) at 100 yards(5 shots/benched). now all i need is dummkopf to write the charge of powder in!!! the only saving grace is the powder charge is minimal, 37 - 38gr of imr4895.

i think i am getting old. i used to able to know what powder charge goes into what cartridge. now i have to look it up. you know if you go to kitchen to fill up your coffee cup and go to table to sit down. well not me, i have to get back up and bring the refilled coffee cup to the table. dummkopf is usually my nice word to describe myself. i won't tell you the bad word(s) to describe myself.

p.s. i use color sharpies on my case heads. a pen and paper are used when i'm shooting the loads. when thats done, it goes into my load book. plain and simple, i forgot!!!!:embarrassed::rofl:

Don’t feel alone. Twice this week while remodeling in my house, I have gone to my shop to get something and forgot what I went there for, until at least half way back to the house!

I have been known to write everything down on a piece of paper so I wouldn't forget, then misplace the paper. I say misplace it because long after I needed it and have gone on to other things I will find it stuffed in some nook or cranny where I put it so it would be safe.

When it comes to shooting I am a horrible record keeper. I need to work on that and at least record what sizer to use for each firearm.

Went to the doctors office with my wife. She complain I am forgetful. Doc sympathizes with her and suggests I write things down. Later that week, I am going to the kitchen and herself asks me to bring back a dish of ice cream for her. “No problem” says I. Do you need to write it down? Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. So, I come back from the kitchen and hand her the bowl of eggs.

Her response,

“Where’s my toast?”

When I first started fighting my BP I'd have to make 2-3 trips to get a tool . Sometimes I'd have to go back and try to figure out where I left off and what tool I'd gone to get . I wasn't 40 yet . It's not bad these days if I keep the stress to a reasonable level and get enough recoil therapy .

Load data logging ......... Does writing on cases and THE load on die box lid label or highlights in the manuals count ?

Not shooting related: but my wife just asked me why the shreded mexican cheese was on top of the refridge with the tortilla chips! I said I have no idea? told her to put it back in in the refridge! I think I managed that well!

I make load notes then put it in the box with the loads.
then I forget if it is labeled from back to front, front to back, or from left to right.
of course when I do remember to mark them I completely forget to write the best load down in my log book for next time.
so I'm great at making notes... sort of, kinda,,,,, half way anyway.

At one point I took volumes of notes and tried a variety of loads looking for THE ONE! Now, one or maybe two loads per rifle cartridge. No more than three in my revolvers. Like when I was competing in PPC. If it was a wadcutter, there was 2.8 grains of Bullseye under it. Life is too short to complicate things. Or maybe my memory is too short...

the 444 marlin (tc encore with 23" MGM barrel) is the one i test loads on. i tested 220gr wc to 300gr fn gc. all the other rifles are one load per cartridge.
