I just can't leave anything alone...

My H&R Classic Carbine .45 Colt has been languishing in the back of my safe for a few years while I've been playing with my NFA toys more and more. It's really nice to leave the hearing protection in the range bag and not annoy the neighbors by shooting early in the morning on a weekend. My form 1 silencer build was a .45 caliber and I've been enjoying it on my .45 ACP AR-15. I decided to have the H&R's muzzle threaded so I could shoot it suppressed also.

Threading the barrel would involve losing the front sight dovetail, so I decided to go ahead and have the barrel shortened to 16-1/4" to make it a little more "handi" with the silencer mounted. After some wheedling and begging, L1A1Rocker agreed to take the project on and boy did he do a nice job on the threads, crown, and shoulder. He also took my .30-caliber brake and bored it out to 1/2" so the bullets would pass.

I went ahead and re-cut the dovetail by hand and re-mounted the front sight this afternoon, and dressed up and touched up the bluing in a few spots on the brake (I bought it used and it had some pipe wrench scars on it), and put a few rounds through it. Very nice. Thanks again Rocker!

I didn't put it on paper, mainly testing for function and to see how loud it was with the suppressor. It's not "stupid quiet" like some of my smaller-caliber builds, but not even slightly distressing to the ears. I'm sure it would sound like a cannon without the suppressor

Well now I would HAVE to take a deer with that. That is just too cool! I have had a soft spot for short "carbine" guns since my dad bought me my first deer rifle, a Remington Model 7 in 7mm-08. Absolutely love the short barrel for woods hunting. This just makes me drool!

The whole reason I bought the little carbine was for inside 50-yard venison shots on my property here. The chamber throat is pretty enormous and the best it ever did with my revolver ammo was about 5" at 50 yards. After working with it a bit I settled on a paper-patched 340-grain bullet that I tuned to shoot 1.5" ten-shot groups and pretty soft alloy. Obviously the paper jackets are no good with the suppressor so I'm going to try the Lee 300-grain WFN bullets and maybe the 340-grainers again, maybe powder coated this time, not sure.

Is that a square, Acme, or UN thread form? Hard to tell from the photos on the low res laptop I'm using.

It's a standard 60* V thread. 30cal muzzle threads are generally 5/8 x 24 as this one is.

Unless you are talking about the threads the manufacture put on the muzzle brake I'm going to defer to Ian on that.

The silencer attachment threads are 7/8-6 Acme.

The closeup of the muzzle threads is a "work in progress" picture taken before they were cut to full depth, so they still have flat tops.

Umm, yep...jealous am I.

Congrats, that's going to be fun.

Mmmmm, so when is the Henry joining the threaded club?

Brake adds 1.5". Barrel started at 20", so we're looking at 17-3/4" with the brake.

My Henry Big Boy is staying like it is unless I get a rasp after the 2x6 buttstock and give it some shape.

A gentleman never asks. But no one ever said I am a gentleman!
Other than the actual price for the SOUND SUPRESSOR. What are the costs for paperwork just to get one?
