I just ordered this one from Tom @ ACCURATE

TL bands swage in the throat and engrave really easily, I like that when combined with a long bore-riding nose, having easy insertion at the back end takes lateral deformation stresses off the nose and helps keep it from digging into the narrow lands on one side.

Ian,

I'm a bit torn between the micro bands vs. conventional lube grooves like the 311299 or the 311290.

I'm emailing back and forth with Tom right now on the subject.

I shoot the Lee CTL-312-160-2R up to 1900fps with no issues, but that is with my lube. If you're going to use BR lube, you might want to stick with conventional grooves since your lube seems to work well in those designs. Its your call.

The coaches always know on Monday what they should have done on Friday night.

That is pretty much where I am on some of this right now.

You could always get one of each style grooves and report your findings Ben.

Tom would be more than happy to make that happen. Come on Ben, it's only money......

He'll even cut one of each style in the blocks for a small additional fee, I think it's something like 15 bucks a hole per each extra design you add to one mould. I'm actually serious, that could be cool. Get a two-banger in aluminum with one TL and one regular.

Ian,

I've sent Tom an Email with your suggestion of T/L in one cav. and conventional lube groove(s) in the other cav. of the 2 cav. mould.

We'll see what he says ? ?

Bet he says "OK", easy to do.

Will be an interesting study.

The 2 band styles is an interesting concept. But I was wondering if you find what makes 1 style bullet perfectly, would make the other bullet poorly

Got a two cavity, different design in each cavity from Tom recently...I figure it's about $70.00 less than two molds..
Boy those are some nice molds..

Actually his order form allows you to do that. My 170 PB/185GC he did for me works fine. Even pouring just one hole works well..

Yes, you're right.
When I ordered mine, I noticed that you could have him cut different styles in the same mould.

Got an Email from Tom @ Accurate moulds this morning.
Tom feels the crimp groove on the orig. Accurate 210 -H design needs to go. I agree.
Here is the orig. design for comparison purposes :

The bullets from this mould will be shot in bolt action rifles and the idea of removing the crimp groove sounds good to me. Tom is calculating exactly how the T/L grooves will look once he does the math on the drive band surface area after the crimp groove is removed from the design.

We have agreed that 1 cav. in the 2 cav. mould will be T/L and the other cavity a conventional lube bullet design. Both bullets will be g/c design. The nose on both will be the same design.

With a couple of very small changes, Tom and I have pretty much settled on these two to be cut in the same 2 cav. Alum. blocks, ( ASAP ).
