I need some help

Please don't ask what or why. I will let everyone know why after I am less embarrassed. And hopefully fix my situation.
Is there enough steel in a S&W Shield 9mm. That a magnet will lift it?

With a strong enough magnet I'm sure there is. A decent sized rare earth magnet will do the job.

And I can't wait to hear the story, Lord knows there is a good one in there somewhere.

We use these at work form moving plate steel around. It will fish a handgun out of deep water if that’s what you need. If interested. Pm me. I might be able to loan you one from work. 969E4DBB-D813-4668-A8A8-0255E712750B.png

fone charge... look at the Mophie 120% battery case. Love mine. And saves the fone when I drop it!

As for the magnet/Shield - I have a 45 Shield. And decent magnet from Harbor Freight. It snatched my 45 Shield right up. Irrc, ~$15 at Harbor Freight. Or happy to ship you mine.

I have a magnet from an old harddrive (back when Harddrives were the size of a motorcycle). The Magnet is sandwiched between two steel plates, It is about the size of two average sized Bibles stacked together. I use it to drag the lawn for nails/screws after a project, it's the strongest magnet I've ever seen, and it's heavy, 25lbs or so. If should fit through a Ice fishing hole, unless you got one of those small 6" augers? You know where I'm at, if you want to borrow it.

If it was mine it's probably be in a waste tank and if I was lucky it'd be oil but my luck ain't been much lately .......

I didn't have anything but bad luck today.
I am so careful in the fish house about leaving all stuff (billfold, keys, phone) on the cabinet counter. till I am ready to leave. I was cleaning up getting ready to go home. All imp. stuff put in pockets. In the winter I CC in the inside breast pocket of my parka. The last thing I had to do was pull the 12 volt battery for recharging.
About 5 seconds before the accident. That little voice said " you better zipper the gun pocket" I guess I wasn't listening. I bent over to pick the battery up which was at floor level. I never felt a thing, I heard the splash looked at the hole rite below my jacket zipper. There my pistol was just below the bottom of the hole disappearing fast.
Today I made a 18 foot rod of all thread rod. Taped my friends magnet on the end. Also installed my fish camera above the mag. to try and see what I was doing. The good news is I didn't loose any of the tools I brought today.
The bad news. Yesterday I used the last of the propane in my heater, so I had to install my spare tank, more time outside. I found out there is about 10 to 12" of soft silt mud on the bottom where I am fishing. An anything of any weight sinks out of sight.
I did call my daughter (who is coming for the weekend) and had her go to the local HF to get one of there better magnets. So I am kind of stuck where I am at till Sat. The wife already gave me permission to go out Sat. even though the family is coming for the weekend.
About the only way today would have been worse. Is if a warden would have given me a ticket for disturbing the lake bottom without a permit! Kevin

Dang Kevin.
That's a bummer bud. I hope you are able to retrieve your firearm. Your not the first guy to do it.
My buddy, A State Trooper was given a brand new Glock as a gift from his wife. Never even shot it.
Out fishing in the lake and stood up in the boat and out it went. Never did find it.
I'm rooting for you!

Yikes! That sucks!

Believe when I say your luck can run much much worse.

Might have a shot dredging a dip net around the bottom if you can enlarge the hole. Good luck!
