Heck, I could TIG it back together, too. Make a perfect tent stake when I was done.

What in the world is "Tripod ads removed?"

Tripod is a hosting site that loves to add ads to any photos linked in a forum. The photos brought numerous, as in double digit, ads to the forum.

Think of a hosting site that is also a spammer.

The link that scb posted to the picture (no fault of his) was to a Tripod hosted web site, Tripod embedded several ads in his post which I removed. When you clicked the link to view the picture and then posted it embedded several ads in your post. At that time I removed the ads in your post and the Tripod link to the picture in scb's post.

Was no harm, foul or fault of anyone here. Anyone can have a free web page on Tripod but they embed ads in each of your pages AND in your links so that anyone who clicks the links also gets to enjoy Tripod ads.

Holy cow. Deviouser and deviouser..... (if that is even a word). Hadn't heard of this one. Didn't
think I had added any advertisement for a photo accessory.:confused::confused:

OK, I was thinking .44 Mag reamed out, that would explain the thin area at the scope mt holes.

Bill
This one was. If the pictures can still be viewed one was of the chamber markings. Someone had clearly hand stamped 444 Marlin over 44 Magnum.

Now that you mention it, I had forgotten that THAT was why I thought it had been
rechambered.:D

My guess is that the scope mt holes are shallower on the factory .444s. Although, I
would imagine that this also involved some "special loading techniques", too.

444 was a factory chambering, Bill.

After having ran around with some guys in the TCA, I am 99.99 percent sure that TC never offered or made a 444 Marlin barrel.

I could make a quick phone call but doubt he is home or even in country.

It is all on pressures and thrust. They actually had factory chambers 7BR barrels. All kinds of warning use factory ammo only, sure I will run to the store and grab a box, lol.

They chamber the 45-70 and say it is OK? Most and I say most 45-70 ammo is pretty soft.
I have seen one factory chambered 6PPC barrel also.

As Bill mentions, screw holes for scope are scarey close to the chamber on these.

Virgin valley now MGM chambered the short mags for a while in the Encore. They started cracking across the top in line with the scope screws.

I have seen a lot of questionable chamberings in TC's in years past. 30-40 Krag, 250 Savage, 356WW were some pretty common ones. Then came the 7.62x39. That cartridge wrecked a lot of frames by folks that didn't have a grasp on things.
I won't name names, but I have a price list with chamberings offered for Contender barrels with a lot of very questionable chamberings. Advise was to load way down. Reason was to clean up bad throats and chamberings.
When this is brought up in discussion at certain places, it disappears suddenly.
Some were even short chambered so factory cartridge would not let action close. The party modified dies in order to "fix" this.

I had also seen on the "other" site a fellow toying with a 45/410 or a 44 hotshot barrel using full length brass to accomplish his mission.
