IDEAL U 311413 Plain Base

About 10 years ago, I obtained a single cavity IDEAL U 311413 mould.
The bands mike .3095 with a nose of 3025 ".
Most likely the mould was cut with a slightly undersized cherrie.
Since it didn't mike at .311 or greater, as most would have during that day in time, the mould was stamped with a " U " to signify that it was an under-sized mould. I removed the gas check shank rendering the mould to cast plain base bullets. The base band now is large enough that I can size to .310" or .311" diameter. It is a wonderfully accurate bullet when kept in the 1,200 - 1.300 fps speed range. I've shot the design in the 30-30, 308 Win., 30-06. As long as you'll respect the velocity limitations, it shoots great. These that I've cast today will keep my 12 yr. old grandson Trevor busy at the range.
