I have been looking for a nice 45 ACP load for my 1911. I finally have settled on 5.2 gr of Promo with the MP version of the HG 68.
I took 200 rounds and a bowling pin to the range today. The pin didn't come home.:)
This also gave me a chance to play with my GoPro and see what I needed to do to get better videos. The other day I used it and didn't have it set right. This is much better.

If you look at the shadow you can see the camera on my hat. Took a hat that wasn't to important to me and drilled a hole in the bill. First one was off and the video was tilted. I drilled another one to the side an inch to account for tilt of my head when shooting.
I do wish the sound was better.

It does sort of sound like you're shooting Blue Dot. That's a good thing!:)

Roughly 25 yards. The camera makes it appear much further.

Hey Brad, I hear there are some guys with funny hats who invented a lube that doesn't smoke, doesn't get all runny in the heat, and doesn't stick to pistol bullets at low pressure.....want me to send you some? :D

Ouch, that hurts.

I know, I know. If it wasn't such a pain in the keister I would use TNT for this. It is just a pain to switch up the lube in the Star.
Maybe I need to make some of Jon's recipe with beeswax?

If you want to pretty much be done with ever needing to experiment with recipes again, I'd concur with that. The other two I love are Barn's SL-71 and the recipe I worked out for Gman (it's in one of his threads in the lube forum) that is a reasonable facsimile of Jon's SL-68B, they're all pretty close to being the same thing and only differ significantly in the paraffin wax department and maybe a little in the chain-length spread of the microwaxes. All are excellent. You already have most of the stuff to make any of them, or probably all if you still have a little of that high-melt paraffin around.

Just watched two cool videos. One made in Hill Country, fellow shooting a suppressed M1A and another vid of a guy shooting a smoky 45 Auto somewhere in Nebraska.

Nice!

In Brad's defense, it's so windy here between 10am-8-9pm I didn't know alox smoked at all for the first 3 years I was casting. I'd read it but, never seen it. Even a 75rnd drum of lead fired at break neck speed & I still had no idea it even smoked at all.

But, then again alox doesnt smoke as bad as Brad's load so......

That smoke was hardly noticeable when I was shooting. Maybe I was busy watching the front sight?:D

The real test for smoke is indoor ranges. The smoke there just hangs and with the lighting it really is noticeable.

If weather holds maybe I can shoot again Wed.
