Just bought this mould from a member here. This thing just drops bullets like nothing I have used before. So pleasant to use.
Need to work up a load and make a new seating stem as the existing one leaves a ring on the nose that just isn’t gonna work.IMG_6648.jpegIMG_6647.jpegIMG_6646.jpeg

They drop a nice .454 and weigh 236-237 gr. Very consistent weights.

Got them powder coated and sized to .4515 tonight. I think I will start with 4.8 gr of Red Dot

They shoot quite nice but the recoil is definitely more than the 200 swc I am used to. Fed great, no issues there.
Pretty happy over all.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
When I first saw the design I didn't it could ever feed in anything.

I was wrong. First time ever :)

With mine I just use a flat wadcutter seating plug and load 4.5 grains of Bullseye in .45 ACP for 800 fps. Feeds in everything. Great game bullet with 7.5 grains of Bullseye in the .45 Colt for 1000 fps.

Question: I have tried to size bullets from .454 throw diameter to .451-.452 and they stuck in my Star. How do you avoid that?

By using a Lee push thru sizer. With powder coating that is the best way to size anyway.

With my Star anytime I need to size down much at all I use a Lee push thru first.

The extra step is a pain but it sure saves the Star from undue stress.

Sizing that much on a Star is no problem but not sizing dry bullets.

I use this lube, just a small amount on your fingertips is plenty, picking up the bullets and placing them in the die will lube them and there is no need to clean the bullets off afterwards.

Considering the cost of a Star right now, I think you're wise to minimize the strain on the machine.
