I have a large number of .38 WC molds and the Lee TL is a good one. I coat with BLL
and load sprue fwd with very good results.

Ah yes, all of us with much time reloading, have our share of
Bubba like experiances. Hopefully we learned from them.

I have that mold as I get my best accuracy with a WC with one groove lubed. I do use BLL with it as well for non match stuff and it shoots almost as well. I run it through a NOE sizing die and 3 .5 gr BE for 2 Smith K frames.

A wise man once said " experience is some you get about 10 seconds after you needed it " . Very few truer words were ever spoken . I've found it to be 100% true .

Some equally true are "you can't buy experience, but you'll sure pay to get it".

So I had the opportunity yesterday to cast some with my new Lee 148 TL mold. Now it's time to get the Lee Alox ready for use, Ian recommended using 5-8% Bee"s wax to improve on it. Since I don't have any pure Bee's wax I was looking for your thoughts on using either Xlox 2500, BAC, or Carnuba Red.
Or wouldI be better off finding some Lundmark brand wax? Liquid or paste, will it matter?IMG_2667.JPG

Good morning,
I would suggest a cup of boiled water to set the bottle of ALOX in. Only when it is hot and liquid, should sound like water, when you shake it. Use a glove!!
While heating/liquifing the ALOX.
Put 2 handfuls about 400 in a heat safe container and pop them on a hot plate or in a toaster oven until the ALOX is ready.
Pour the really warm boolits into a plastic container with lid. Draw an “X” with the hot ALOX swirl and shake a couple of times. Pour out and let dry.
If you see lots of clumps of ALOX of the boolits. Next batch do exactly the same but add a 1/2 teaspoon of mineral spirits.
At the speed WC are shot at I doubt you will have any issues.
Back in the day I used to use floor wax from the bowling alley and a propane torch to heat boolits and wax in a coffee can swirling them around to get an event coating of wax. Dumped them out on cardboard let them dry. Load and shoot. Of course back then I did all this to save money . Now I have gotten sumfisitumcated!!!!

the bac or 2500 will both do the job.
you don't need a ton of it, just melt both real well and add a little mineral spirits then apply the mix while melted and the bullets are hot, it will flow over the bullets like water.
