At your discount auto parts joint......look for one of those "baby" parts washers.Think they're 5 g......which is the only reason not to have a bigger one(price of fluid).

Running mineral spirits is proper for the home shop.Low enough volatility,to basically be a no concern.

Hillbilly version......swipe a spray bottle from the wife's,usually untapped arsenal of cleaning products.Heck steal two,409 is decent for cleaning funk....anyway,assuming you didn't get caught, fill said bottle with mineral spirits.Go to a REAL paint store.Get an account, cash account.Grab a G of paint for wifey, but start buying your chems through that account.

Mineral spirits when put in a jar, will see the "solids" settle to the bttm. Not a prob with the total loss systems, but comes into play on more sophisticated efforts.Pretty durn easy. You "might" have to paint the living room....to get the pass from wifey and the discount.Sherwin Williams has some 2k products for equipment.....but you ain't gettin it without the account.

Naptha is another chem that's mity durn handy. It's evap rate puts it in the same heat range as "wax & grease" remover in auto paint world....further,it's a reducer for heavy equipment enamels.

Lighter fluid along with some commercial solvents have "stuff" in them that can, possibly hurt subsequent paint efforts.

When cleaning, try not to just rearrange the muck....learn to,solvent on,wipe off.
