Any variable optic much over 9X max magnification needs a focal adjustment feature, it's the nature of the beast. Side focus knobs are much more convenient than twisting the objective bell around, and much faster. Adjusting focus for a given range (like binos) gives the best image at higher powers and also in most designs moves the parallax to match the focal distance setting.

Nice lookin rifle Ben!

If it shoots half as good as it looks you got it made :)

My moddo has always been if you can't shoot you might as well look good while you are there and that rifle definatley does that part very well!!

I use the focus as a range finder in the field.
I have got used to dialing in the front objective with my left thumb then glancing at the marks and doing the slight exchange difference each rifle has at distance.
for instance my older Leupold 4X12 is 10yds off at 100, but back on again at 200.

Ben a question on your scope please.
In the first picture of the scope there is a knob labeled focus. Do you have to adjust the focus by turning the knob like you do for a binocular? How much latitude is there in any setting? I learn something new everyday here.

I don't think my answer would be as good as Ian's.
He nailed it.

I cast about 100 of these today.
I've never seen a .35 cal. rifle that didn't shoot this bullet well.
I loaded some for my 358 Win. with 17.5 grs. of 2400.
I had " Buckshot " HP this mould several years ago.

I think you're right Ian.
I'm looking for some tight groups with the RCBS 200 gr.

whomever designed that bullet for RCBS must have designed the 30-150 fngc too.
they just seem to work.
easy to cast, easy to size and check, and they shoot up to the rifles potential at most any speed you want them to go.

Hello Ben....thanks for sharing this load. Can I ask what do you think the velocity will be with 17.5 grn of 2400? Looking for a farm friendly load for a buddy who just acquired a very nice Ruger Hawkeye in .358 he saw mine and fell in love with it. He would like a load that he can take the odd buck that walks through his property without upsetting the neighbours, and perhaps the odd coyote and skunk that have a taste for his chickens. Thank you

I'm guessing about 1,650 fps.

mine scuffs my .310 die with enough resistance to take the gas check nice and flat.
the nose makes a hair over 300, and engraves fairly tightly in my Winchester lever guns.
my alloy is ww's and some 'other' softer lead mixed 3-1, a little tin [1% or less] is usually in the mix.
it really is one of my favorite molds to work with.
it casts easily, fills out nicely, and is super easy to deal with in the size/lube machine.
it also shoots well.
in my 340-A [bolt gun] with open sights I just started with a jacketed load and went with it.
I crimp in the groove so extraction of a loaded round is doable without leaving the bullet behind.

Thank you Ben....that would do just fine I think. Going to play a bit with the 2400...as I have lots of it on hand. Love this forum , thanks everyone for your contribution. I'm like a kid in a candy store when I see a new post...especially the 35's

One of the cavities in the mould produces a RCBS , 200 gr. plain base.
I also size these .360".
