Just another post about Tom's excellent work. I emailed the drawing for this to him on Oct 14 around lunchtime and received an email that it was in the catalog at 6:00pm the same day. I wasn't expecting that! Placed my order and it was in the mailbox the following Monday. How is that for service? One week from the order to arrival in my mailbox. And he put it sizewise right where I requested. I ordered .362" and asked him to keep it towards the top of his tolerance. Mold drops exactly .364" and 202 grns. Should work just like the 200 gr Long Round Nose from Matt's. I had to change the nose profile a little to get the .18" meplat. Matt's bullet is on left in the last mold pic.

Mold drops beautifully so I made my first Star sizer die for it. Only put in one row of holes as this will probably be my only mold for my old Victory.

That one's going to shoot. Beagle sent me some similar from an out of print Lyman mould and my .35 Remington absolutely loves them. I think you captured all the features which matter the most, I may have to get one for myself one day.

Your machine work is amazing, William, are you a pro?

Man, that is a sweet mould and size die. Not sure which I'm more jealous of.

I agree with Ian, that size die screams of being made by a pro

I figured that when I saw how closely you copied all the radii of the Star die design. The precisely engraved markings kind of gave it away, too. Did you know we have a machining sub-forum here?

Ian I did not know about the machining sub forum until now. I have a habit of reading the new posts and not paying attention to which section they are in. I should be more observant!

Fiver, I made it out of a scrap of tool steel. I knew it was either O-1 or W-1. I left about .0015" on OD and ID and heat treated like it was O-1. Turned out it was W-1. Not as hard as I wanted but it shouldn't wear out. Turned the OD to size and lapped out the bore and polished.

Actually, I cut the lettering after I finished the die. The "patina" is from a Sharpie.

I managed to make it to the range yesterday and give the Victory Model a try with the new bullets. Target is shot from 20yds offhand and is three cylinders full. Those skinny grips give me fits! But it is part of the fun shooting a piece of history. Shoots to same spot as the bullets I got from Matt's, just as expected.
