New group?

I prefer the SS versions but they are a bit too bright for treestand hunting, IMO. I had my 1894 SS done in Ceracote.

Nice safety delete. I like the saddle ring replacements for those but they do make a little racket.

Definitely, don't want a saddle ring, for up close and personal. For us lefty's, cross-bolts are a PITA.

I own at least 3 Marlins with a crossbolt safety. I don't know that I have ever used them. In the field I keep the hammer down. On the range the action is kept open when not shooting.
A saddle ring is just something to make noise and flop around.

Winelover is that a safety delete kit or did you just cut a groove in the OE bolt?

That 1894 looks good. I had an old A5 done once in RVA(Rock Valley Armament) black about 25 years ago. It has seen alot of cattail time and none the worse for it. My 336 .44 would get way more canoe time if it was Ceracoted like yours. Reality is it is going to get wet if it's in my canoe. Beaver urine is real tough on blued guns.
Winelover,
Do you have a source for that Ceracote? Cost?

I believe there is a sufficient groove ,where the red "fire" paint resides to hold the snap ring . I read somewhere about a thin 0 ring and a keeper being used but I really just read over it at that time .

Had it done, years ago by an outfit in Kansas, Fit4Duty, IIRC. Don't know if they are still in business. Don't remember the exact cost, but it was reasonable. Shipped them the whole gun and they disassembled, coated, and returned reassembled. They were a lot of color options and they also did scopes to match.

The genuine 336 Texan with the factory brass saddle ring gets in the way of my trigger finger something terrible. I leave it off most of the time. The cross-bolt safety hole is in a higher location and the rings made for them don't get in the way of my trigger finger much, but the flap and clank around so it's more for looks than anything...and solving the accidental safety activation issue. We all be different in our preferences, even amongst lefties.

My Henry BB has NO such nonsense safety stuffage cluttering things up.

Does anybody actually use the crossbolt safeties on the Marlins? I'm guessing it's been added as a liability aspect for Marlin. I'm more concerned with accidental discharges from shooters wearing gloves with no hammer spur extensions.

I'm git'n closer to joining the group...

Update:
If I hadn't mentioned this before, my LGS ordered a 41 at the Shot Show...that'd be the 2016 Shot Show.

I stopped by the shop yesterday, and asked if they were at the 2017 Shot show, and if they talked to whoever they ordered the Henry from? ...Jim, one of the owners, says, "I didn't go, cuz of my bad foot, Katie went and I don't know if she talked to them about the 41 or not?" He went on and said, "many times those orders get canceled at the 6 month mark, if they fail to deliver".

So, Jim picks up the phone and calls that distributor...and it turns out that distributor has the steel BB 41 in both, carbine and Rifle. I had to make a quick decision, (My Marlin has a 20" barrel and I love that, and I figured 16.5" would be too short to my liking) ...SO I told him to bring in the Rifle. The price will be $689 (about 735 with MN tax) Not as low as some prices I've heard, but fair enough, and I do love my LGS and want them to remain alive and profitable. I'll probably see it within the next week. Just to celebrate, I'm hittin' the range today, with a bag full of 41's and the marlin.

It absolutely is.
Your LGS and my LGS owners are best buddies. Jim has a piece of ground about four miles from me here. John was a character also. I bought a Ruger LCR .38 +p from Jim when the two of them were set up at a gunshow/trappers convention a couple years ago. Good inventory in Little Crow.
