New Marlins

Anyone else been seeing new Marlin rifles in stock?
Scheels in Omaha has a 44 mag, a 45 Colt CB, a 45 Colt 1894, and an 1895 CB.
The metal work doesn't look bad but the stocks look to be almost devoid of finish. Not anywhere near like the old Marlin finish. They also look to be either not checkered or very shallow.

I don't need any of the rifles I saw so I gave them just a cursory look over.

I would have looked at the CB model.
it sounds like the finish they put on the 870 express versus the nice finish they put on the wingmaster.
I don't know what it is, some type of sprayed on oil would be my guess though.

I have a 20 years or so old 1894 BC in 45 Colt already. Mine has the 24" barrel which I far prefer.
I would consider a CB in 357 if I saw one.

What he said.
Lever actions should have a loading gate. Well, other than 22 LR.

I'd make a slight exception for something like that. [if I could afford it]
but I wouldn't be pumping a hundred rounds a trip through something like that either.

I'm on the fence on that one. I still like a loading gate. Call me new fashioned?:)

Haven't looked and probably won't unless I find a 357 or 454.

Otherwise it would need to be 3030 & marked jm.

Got two of those, both GOOD ones.

After threading one for a suppressor I'm beginning to see the merits of the loading gate.

Hey fiver, he is starting to come around.

it's about time.:D
try topping one off in a fire-fight, or in a timed shooting contest, or laying down, or while your walking, or in the truck, or in thick brush.
those 92's are a lot more tactical [errr tacticool] then people think.
you just gotta keep topping them off and working the handle, they hold about 100,000 rounds that way.

I might have enough lead on hand to cast 100,000 120 gr 9mm bullets. Primers, powder, and cases are major issues. Time is also a factor.

Face it, I'm a slacker. But one with some semblance of a life?

I attempted to corner the market on 30-30 brass a few years ago, but still can't quite get to 100K unless I reload what I have about 20 times.

Brad, that don't count unless you have a 9mm levergun :p
