If you punch one to "k" set the barrel back and use a good neck and throat.then they will shoot.I just hate the fragile brass.

Don't overlook the Browning Low Wall in 22 Hornet. It can be shot from either side, and the one that I've seen and shot was very accurate.

If my MX turns out to be too long for my 1-14 twist .222 SAKO barrel, I can always fall back on this shorter and lighter weight 45 gr NOE Wide Flat Nose cast bullet.

I have this 2 cav. NOE mould in plain base and g/c. I have shot the plain base version in my SAKO , .222 Rem and it shot VERY well, I have not shot the g/c version yet. The flat on the end should deliver a good " Smack " down range on varmints. A 5 gallon bucket of wheel weights will make A LOT of these.

A fellow on the cba forum sent me an nei .22 he had cut with the gc and one band removed.it was a weird looking thing with barely a body and a long bore ride nose.everything said it wouldn't shoot but it did.I'll post a pic if i still have a sample.

I HAD single cavity NEI in iron block cut without a GC. I don't see the design on NEI's website, but it shot tiny little groups from the Stevens. I think it weighed 45-48gr, and had to pressure cast to get the little buggers to fill out in that huge block. I sold the mold to Billy Call over on CB years back.

I had to show restraint today.there was a cz in 22 Hornet for $450 with 2 mags.common sense prevailed.

Hello Ben
Have you had a chance to shoot this mx bullet yet?
I have been staring at it really hard and was just hoping to get some first hand insight.
I am really green in the 22 dept.
I am thinking for my cz 223 and a win 70 22-250.
Please keep us in the loop.

Thanks

Slayer,

I've fired maybe 50 rounds with the MX.
Keep in mind that I have a 1 - 14 twist barrel.
It has not shot as well for me as the shorter , lighter weight cast bullets.

Hello Ben

That's what I was thinking.
Both my guns are slower twisted.
I was hoping it was going to be a mini Saeco 315
I guess I may have to build a rifle with a bit slower twist!!

Thanks

I can't always get my fingers and brain to work well together.

I have the same problem.
Just didn't want a " Newbie " to draw the wrong conclusions from our discussion.

Best,
Ben

you could always speed up the bullet to make up the difference.
12grs of 2400 is a pretty fair load.
you could go to 18grs of 4895 and start moving forward with weight sorted gas checked bullets.
22grs or so should get you in the 2700 fps range

Fiver,

I'm definitely not finished with the testing of the MX.
I'm going to shoot the bullet more in my .222 with its 1-14 twist barrel.
The idea of slower powders and more of it, appeals to me.
Like you say, if stability is marginal, speed things up.
