AS I mentioned I got two days in a row at the range this past week..the first day was at the 2oo yd range the second was a very pleasurably " plinking day" at the 100 yd range..the usual crowd showed up but we al had decided to bring "Fun" guns...SKS"S, issue sighted 03's , 03A3' Mosin Nagants, .22's, early sporters etc...
Me I brought my Smith Corona 03A3 and Winchester Model 54 in 30-30...
I set up an NRA SR-1 at 100 yds and settled in...after readjusting the sights for the plain based rounds ..
I couldn't spot the first five rounds with my spotting scope ...but I did know they weren't in the white...good so far...a walk down to the target showed that they were a little high but windage was pretty good...as was the group..now I wish I had more faith in myself and taken more careful aim with the first five..(they are the ones further out in the group)...of course the second five were much better..what do you think.. one click down and we're good to go?
What fun these plain base bullets are..virtually no recoil or noise AND they are accurate...nice holes too
Ya.... I'll use that target until all the black is taped over..
