AS I mentioned I got two days in a row at the range this past week..the first day was at the 2oo yd range the second was a very pleasurably " plinking day" at the 100 yd range..the usual crowd showed up but we al had decided to bring "Fun" guns...SKS"S, issue sighted 03's , 03A3' Mosin Nagants, .22's, early sporters etc...

Me I brought my Smith Corona 03A3 and Winchester Model 54 in 30-30...

I set up an NRA SR-1 at 100 yds and settled in...after readjusting the sights for the plain based rounds ..

I couldn't spot the first five rounds with my spotting scope ...but I did know they weren't in the white...good so far...a walk down to the target showed that they were a little high but windage was pretty good...as was the group..now I wish I had more faith in myself and taken more careful aim with the first five..(they are the ones further out in the group)...of course the second five were much better..what do you think.. one click down and we're good to go?

What fun these plain base bullets are..virtually no recoil or noise AND they are accurate...nice holes too

Ya.... I'll use that target until all the black is taped over..

Thanks Ben...it's a lot of fun getting back to the basics...I liked this Plain Base design so much that I ordered a two cavity PB in brass from
from Al..but I now wish I had done the same thing you did and gotten one from Tom that was at least a thou over on all the bands...

I can cast them a little harder to get them to fill out some more..actually this design in a .313/.314 might work better in the milsurps..

Yes, the mil-surps like the " fat ones ".
People have basically made fun of me for shooting my plain base bullets. They don't understand why I'm not trying to break " Mach- 2 " ? ? ?

I'm not doing what I do for them, I'm doing it for me and I , ( Like You ) am having a good time with my plain base shooting.

Yes Ben..one of these days I'm going to break out my 24" octagon barreled 1917 Winchester 94 with a Lyman tang sight and see what these will do in that...should be a lot of fun
AND I was only spending $1.48 per box of twenty compared to their $7.00 min for .223 ...obviously more for the sks , Russian and 30-06 ball rounds

Wow very nice shooting.
I to have an 03A3(Remington) and enjoy shooting it also. I have shot plain base for most of my cast shooting. Even if I shoot with a GC it is still at plain base velocities.
Can you be more specific in the NOE bullet #. I went looking for it and could not find a #315.
Thanks.

Dan Thanks for the info. I will be ordering a mold soon. Some times its hard to order more molds, I think I have close to 30, 30 cal. molds all ready.
