My Gempro 250 has started to drift, not terribly, but sometimes I have to tare it often. I leave it on, no electromagnetic interference nearby, no air movement, and on a solid surface. I thought a mechanical backup would be a good thing to have.
On a whim I checked out Ohaus scales on the auction site. I ordered and received this scale for a little less than the current RCBS scales run:
It checked out perfectly with the check weights. I like that it can be stored in a compact fashion with the cover. Easy to adjust the level, and the base casting is a nicely weighted. The vernier fine adjust is slower than the hanging weight, but ok. Made in New Jersey.
I can understand Ohaus entering the reloading scale market, and then later supplying scales to RCBS and Lyman. But how did they get started with bullet molds? Then they exited the market altogether, maybe when they were bought by Mettler-Toledo?
