PC to the rescue!

My brother bought a couple new guns in .45 Colt
He bought a Lee 6 cav. 200RF mold for me to cast for him.
Most all the bullets measured under .452" by a thou or so.
No worries. I just got some new PC paint from Smoke on the other site.
I used to dry tumble with airsoft bb's method of applying the paint.
Very handy product for making undersized bullets the proper diameter.

I cussed a blue streak at Lyman for years, having spent near a grand on mould after mould that was undersized beyond any use. I lapped a few, sold a few, and threw a few in the trash. Now I wish I had them all back.

I feel your pain Ian. I have several, not a lot, that cast undersized. Kinda glad I didn't put them up on the auction block.
It really is a game changer.
It's also nice to be able to cast up 1K or so, PC, size, then just put in a jar or whatever and store not having to worry about lube sticking or dust or hair ect....

I have come to the conclusion that Lyman RCBs Lee and a few other stock mould maker know Cr*P about shooting cast bullets.!
Al, Tom, and a few other custom makers realize that a cast bullet can be sized down but not up!
To those stock makers just cut the dang things bigger! How hard it that? ...& you will sell more!

Right? I'll buy NOE but usually it will be from Accurate. Both companies are head and shoulders above the rest.

Now guys, it isn't Lyman's fault that you refuse to use Lyman #2 alloy.

Waco how much do you figure a single coat of PC adds to the dia.?
Until you posted the second pic. of both colors on the bullets. I was going to ask a SA question if they coated in green and baked to blue.

Kevin. The smallest measurement I got from an as cast bullet was .451"
After one coat of PC and ran through the oven I sized them to .452" and EVERY BULLET HAD SOME RESISTANC going through the size die.
Short answer? At least .001"
I know that some people claim up to .002"
I only did one coat. So guys coat twice. YMMV....
