Randy has a grey colored powder that looks like a regular bullet just kind of like it's old.
I generally get an about .001 thick coating and about an .002 gain in diameter.

I cussed a blue streak at Lyman for years, having spent near a grand on mould after mould that was undersized beyond any use. I lapped a few, sold a few, and threw a few in the trash. Now I wish I had them all back.

An individual over on another forum once said there was no such thing as a Lyman mould that throws undersized bullets.

When I read his comment :
I put him on my " Ignore List ".

I think I had a similar conversation with a guy on the other site. I've since wondered how long he had been working at Lyman. Lyman used to admit to undersized moulds, and even marked them with the letter "U" in front of the mould number.

I get about .0018-.002" total increase pretty reliably with a single shakenbake coat. Those look real good, Walter, I see you're an overachiever like me and stand them all on their bases to bake :).

Now I have a lathe with a 4-jaw chuck, and a tenths indicator. I can make any driving band any dadgum size I want, now that I have all the moulds I kept fixed already. Sighhhhhh......

I shake them.
but I do it unlike all the directions said.
my airsoft BB's are glow in the dark [what I had on hand, okay what I confiscated from the kids]
I use a cup that is about 30oz's in size, it is a #-5 pete but the lid is a #2 [also what I had on hand]
I pour them through a steamer lid I drilled holes in this lets the powder and BB's fall through then I dump the bullets in a rectangular tray with a lid I found in the kitchen.
I stand them all up to cook by using a nitrile glove, I pick up each bullet and twist it between thumb and forefinger then set it on the tray with parchment paper.
my powder is about 3/4 tsp of randy's dark grey and about 1/4 tsp of harbor freight red,
to three handfuls of 9mm bullets.
the BB's are about 1-1/2 to 1 to the bullets.
I swirl and shake then rotate the cup and shake some more and that's it, about 20 seconds worth.
the bullets come from the mold at about 3565 or so and they all clean up the sides a bit in the 358 size die.
I have to add a little lube to them before sizing so they don't stick.

I am with Jim on "candy coated bullets", they just look about as odd as two left shoes!

they do look different.
but the results speak for themselves.
I coated some 358091's which of course made them too big.
when I tried to size the first couple they promptly stuck tight in my size die.
so I loaded them in my odd this and that 357 brass and squished the front drive band down in a taper crimp die until they chambered in the Dan Wesson.
I'm pushing them along with 6 grs. of bullseye and they are accurate.
we were shooting clay pigeon chunks and chips hanging in the bushes and trees and sitting on some logs the other day at about 25 yards.
everyone there was shooting that revolver by the time we were done.

I DO LIKE my PC'd cast. Matter of fact I sold 2 of my three Lube Sizers and have gone almost exclusively to PC.

I use my Star as a simple push through sizer. It's paid for, and I won't go exclusively to PC by any means. To keep the bigger bullets from sticking in the die I run a sized and lubed cast bullet through every so often. Enough lube transfers to the Star die to make sizing easier.

Fiver, that sounds like a really gnarly 357 wadcutter load, I need to try something similar, probably with Promo, since I had plenty of it. I recently got a great deal on an Ideal 358063 4 cav. I looked long and hard for it. I feel myself slipping back into my old wadcutter ways. Now I feel the need for another H&G 50, perhaps a bevel base this time.

it seems like it would be pretty stout but it is almost nothing on the recoil end.
I also shoot a 158 rnfp on top of 7 grs of herco and it is loud in the revolvers [almost30 carbine revolver type loud] it's a pussycat in the lever gun though.
if I were looking for another mold it would be the 358477 over another full wad cutter.
it cut's holes just as clean and is just as accurate.
it also holds up well over distance, I used to sit up on my property and shoot man sized steel targets at about 250 yds with them on top of 4.1gs of 231 in 38 cases.
if I missed it was my fault.
I could also make the little 2X3" swingers at the pistol range dance pretty good with that same load.

Actually I have Been finding more & more PC bullets on our pistol berms!. I'm hoping these are commercial cast (?)
I have been throwing them in with what I know is Commercial "Hard " cast Just a way I balance my smelts!
Just hope someone isn't shooting soft pipe lead under that PC!!!!

I don't know of any commercial casters doing powder coat.
federal is or was making one in 9mm but I haven't seen it on the shelves.
most commercial sellers are doing the Hi-Tek coatings AFAIK.
