Just bought this one.
Will come with all 3 sets of HP pins.
Should shoot well in my many .30 cal. rifles.
I already have the same mould in 2 cav. aluminum as a solid and it shoots great.
Now, I'll also have the design in HP.

OOH! The one I WANT for my 30/30. Always out of stock, but I keep looking.

I have an original LEE, 6C, which works wonderfully in my 30/30, but I'd love to have the option to cast as RFN/HP/Cup-Point too.

Very nice find, @Ben !

I've been looking for my original ranch dog mold for all over a month now.
I had a brain fart and was sure it was a six cavity and I can't find it. I know I have this mold shown above. I picked it up as a group buy, Long ago on the other site and yes it's a really good one! Mine is a plain base, with all the pins. But, my wanting a solid version, I picked up a Arsenal 170 RF copy of the ranch dog and it's also a really good bullet. I was looking for my gas check , and that's the original ranch dog. Its somewhere....

I've got that mould in a regular 5 cavity, I absolutely despise that tiny drive band above the gascheck shank. It's there for a properly thick plain base bullet, but it's horrible to get good fill out with. About 1 every cast wasn't right and it was on random cavities.

Once you sort out the bad ones, they shoot very well.

There were, I believe, four renditions of this bullet from Michael, and likely more as others have "cloned" it.

Mine is the fourth version, according to Michael. I think I bought this one from him, from his personal moulds - all three in this photo, actually. Hard to keep up with what I've done and when regarding moulds over the past two decades.

The bullet on the far left is the version I have. Its a gem in my 30/30 - 24" MGM Contender Carbine barrel. I've not hunted with it, but I wouldn't hesitate to.

Anyway, the band ahead of the gas check on mine is wider, but Ben seems to have a special rapport with moulds.

If you DO, @Ben , I'll take it off your hands.;)

Jeff,
The last time I counted (discussed here) there were 5 versions of just the .30 cal Rd bullet. One nose is for the Winchester levers, and a smaller nose version for Marlin levers. I ended up with a version of each, not my intention, I have all Marlins.

The mould arrived today.
I gave it a good cleaning and " tune up ".
I replaced both cavities with the deep HP pins.
The cup point and flat point pins are in a safe location.
It is very cold outside right now.
As soon as it warms up some, I'll be casting.

Geesh,,now i have to paw around, and see what version i have!
I shoot it out of a 1948 336amarlin.cant remember the issue without looking, but that barrell has a tighter throat then bore.didnt shoot very well, but when i got done tinkering,it shot fine.
I ended up using neck turned cases, turned really thin,to allow the bullet to have room to launch.

Ben, your last pic shows the pins so deep, they will leave a step in the nose like the mould CW has

Is the bracket at the underside loose?

Do the pins fall into proper position when held upright?
