Remington 34

I just picked up a "new" .22 rifle. Rem 34, bolt action, tube mag. Amazing feed design. Built like
a tank. Ultra smooth, entirely controls the cartridge, lifts it to exactly level and centered, goes straight
into chamber. Needless to say, feeds like butter. Very nice, but plain, sleek and trim. Long bbl helps
me see the sights! I can shoot it well with the standard factory sights, not always the case anymore.

Just mechanically neat. Made about '34 or '35, when quality was king at Rem. Just super nice action.
Extractor could work for a .308!

Nice. How's the 22 fodder availability in your neck of the woods? We have a few pretty neat 22's but ammo for said.....ain't.Nasty cheap stuff is all we see.

At the casting bench in the sky. RIP Bret.
The current supply in my area is no different than 2-3 years back.

There used to be some very nice 22's made. Remington, Savage, Winchester, H+R, even Mossberg made some real shooters. Quality like that has gone the way of 24 cent gasoline.

Bill,

You clearly have a " Keeper " there.
Enjoy your new rifle.

Yes, I will hang on to it. Really nice old gun. As to .22 ammo,
we have plenty, and prices finally starting to get more sane. You can go into
Scheel's and see stacks and stacks of it, many different brands. Prices still a
bit too high to please this cheapskate, but better than it was a year ago.

First, availability, next prices that are reasonable.
