Rossi 92 Ranch Hand SBR project (short barreled rifle)

A Rossi that has been after market "tuned" will be as smooth as any Winchester, I know, I have two of them. Nate "Kiowa" Jones (Steve's Gunz) video has all the info.

Yes, I have that video and have purchased several parts from "Steve's Gunz." I have tuned my other Rossi's, but not this one yet. Once you get them slicked up, man they run well!

I totally agree with you on the huge loops like the ones that come with the Rossi Ranch Hands. Too big = too slow. I will have to take a look at that voodootactical cheek rest.

Keeping with the "tacktical" side of things: https://www.voodootactical.net/voodoo-tactical-adjustable-cheek-rest-with-ammo-carrier.html

Otherwise I good set of Skinner peeps with the high front blade.

Regarding the levers, the enlarged ones which are just bowed out at the bottom are handy if you have gloves on, even just work gloves. HOWEVER, I think the enormous, exaggerated, barrel-hoop Hollywood levers are pretty stupid and impractical on a rifle. Maybe ok for some people on the Mare's Leg but my problem is the stiff Rossi action makes the pistol roll in my support hand while working the lever, making my knuckles slip off and about half my arm pokes through the loop.

~825 fps. 20" barrel gets about 850. There are some nice leather lace-on cheekrests out there too, I was sorta kidding about the VT rest although they actually make a nice, functional product if you don't mind the Cordura. I'm a duct tape and gym foam kind of guy myself, unless it's "cowboy" stuff and then it's gotta be nice top grain holster leather. The .308 loops might stretch enough to take .45 Colt cartridges as a bonus, and if they don't, that's what very warm stretching mandrels are for.

That "no name" can seemed to work nice :)

Yeah, I was thinking leather at first... but then I figured hey, leather isn't really how it is set up right now anyways... Do you know of a place that makes the leather cheek risers for the Rossi 92 stocks? And that no-name can only cost me $225 on gunbroker (plus the usual stamp fee...). Ajguns.net makes them, and I have no idea how he makes money off of them.

Good video. Very pleasant with the "dink' on the steel the loudest part.

The large loop does look odd, but never having used one, not sure about functionality. You need the little screw that The
Rifleman had on his to slam fire it. :D:eek:
