My Ruger #1 that I sent JES for reboring arrived this morning.
12 day turnaround.
Twist is 1 - 15. 3 groove rifling.
Rebored from a .222 Rem to 357 Max by JES.
The bore in this rifle is smooth , bright, and free of any tight spots with a tight patch.
I can't wait to get to the range with this one.

Here is a box of factory loaded Remington 357 Maximums.
( I don't think factory ammo is even made anymore )

Here is one of the Remington factory rounds in place for a quick photo.

Ben,
I have become a "35" junkie and I will have to add the 357 Max to my to do list. I am considering a 35-30/30 now. I need help and this recovery has left me surfing the web to find new 35 caliber ideas.

Maybe the rain has let enough you can shoot, but now with this heat it will be miserable at the range.

Our heat index the next two days is over 100 degrees.

That makes for a pretty tough day at the range.
I'm really wanting to shoot my new rifle, but maybe not that bad. :)

In a Ruger # 1, YES.
In my SAKO , L-461, .222 Rem., NO.

From what I've read, 357 Maximum brass availability is " iffy ".
I called Starline, a couple of weeks ago and they had plenty .

I got 250 ea. Maximums for $92 shipped.
To your question about 357 Magnums, ......YES, all day long and your favorite 38 Spec. loads also. Just got to clean the chamber well after firing the two shorter cartridges.

Very nice, Ben.

Can't wait to see your results. Do you have a mold in mind for the first run?

Ok, forewarned, my initials are BS. Did you really put a painted scope on that beautiful custom job? If so, I like it even more. Sorry, I simply couldn't resist. Feel free to dish back as you see fit.

Well, it is a hunting scope and I bought it for that intended purpose. I want every " edge " I can get on these big bucks down here. It isn't a " show phony ", more of a work horse.

I've got about 35 ea. moulds for the rifle, everything from a 75 gr. wadcutter to the 280 gr. , 358009 HP ( and most everything in between ). I may start things out with the 358156.

The only problem that I've ever seen of a Ruger # 1 stock was from being poorly bedded. The right side or the left side ends up taking more recoil than the other side ( also a very common problem on side X side shotguns )
While I had the stock off of the receiver, I decided to take care of that problem once and for all.

Butt stock is back on the rifle now, " thru - bolt " is tight.

I did this one about 25 years ago.
Swore that I'd never do another.
Spent over 9 months on this one.
A major job shaping the shadow line cheek piece , fitting the butt plate, grip cap, etc.
Not a job for the faint of heart.

Ruger # 1, 358 Win.
