It is my opinion that JES used the one that was already on the rifle.
Jesse and I talked at length prior to me shipping my rifle for the rebore. No mention was made about a 2nd extractor.
I talked with him 2 days prior to me receiving my rifle. He made no mention of replacing the extractor. He packaged some handwritten notes with my rifle, again no mention of replacing the extractor.

I've chambered several rimmed rifles and simply cut the final headspace depth with the extractor installed after I had pre-profiled the yoke of the extractor to the chamber diameter. One I had to shim with a little hammered-out piece of copper wire to keep the reamer torque from rolling it over too much (sloppy extractor fit on that one), but if they are cut together it's a perfect match. A little de-nibbing and touch up blue on the extractor and it's good to go.

well the maximum holds enough powder to make the longer barrel be a pretty big help in gaining velocity.
150 fps wouldn't be out of line for a normal 'hot' 357 magnum load when going from a revolver to a 20" barrel.
the extra powder [14 to 28 H-110 airc from the mag to the max] @300 fps should be doable with a 180-200gr bullet.
but I would guesstimate more like 250FPS real world gains.

That puts it in the near 2,000 fps range correct? That would be a very suitable cast gun.... like more of a fit for me than 35 Remington. I like the lever action of the 35 but I like the idea of a very efficient straight wall better esp using powders like h110 or 2400 style powders

Ballistic efficiency is certainly a great characteristic of the 357 Maximum .

all of the maximum and super magnum rounds should have a lever gun built for them.
they are big enough to throw chunks of lead at velocity's approaching bottle necked round speeds.
but small enough to fit in a normal 336 type action, and remain pretty efficient doing so.
they are kind of the 7&8X57 rounds of the straight wall cartridge world.

fiver,

My only experience with the Maximum was in the late 1970's.
I owned a " cannon breech " Lone Eagle single shot in 357 Max.

A very potent handgun ! !

they were designed to have enough oomph to tip over heavy steel targets at some pretty impressive distances for a revolver.
which means retained velocity, with a heavy projectile started at higher than normal speeds.
great for hunting.

I would love to have a 336 chambered in 357 maximum. That would be my dream gun.

Ben in my encore with a 18" barrel I get just over 2000fps with the 35-200 load.
I can push the NOE 360-180 close to 2200.
The 180gr XTP's loaded at the bottom cannelure I can almost get 2400 fps

Thanks for that info.
With my 22 " barrel, I should be in good shape.
