Took this seven point last season with ROA. Load was 35 Grains of Pyroxex "P", Oxyoke Wonder Wad, Lee 220 Conical, topped with Wonder Seal lube cake. Essentially a fifteen yard"bang-flop".

Nice! Is that the one we had for Christmas dinner?

Not quite---he was consumed way before then. Cindy served up either the 4 point "archery deer" or maybe the 7 point "modern gun" deer from this past season.

Winelover excellent job. I own one of the Ruger OA's too. In fact I've had two. Let me tell you something to watch for (and I'll try to post pictures to go along with what I'm going to say later). When I lived in Ohio, which is a BP/Shotgun/Pistol state for deer hunting my friends and I learned that Pyrodex actually burns hotter then BP and is more corrosive. So none of us would shoot after finding that out. Now what it did to my ROA which is stainless just like yours. It cut a slot in the top strap from the hot gases escaping from the cylinder gap. The gap is normal not sloppy. It also burned a hole/pit in my hammer face. There is some erosion on the forcing cone. So I quit using it. I now use Triple 7 three F. That powder is also much more powerful then the Pyrodex. It puts the ROA up into the hot jacketed loads, but I don't shoot those that hot all the time. Just wanted to see what the ROA would do. That powder isn't causing any damage to the pistol.

Soon at I get pics I'll post them and you can see.

Very cool. I was thinking of flat pointing that same bullet and using it on a deer. Not legal here though.

Only conicals are legal in black powder handguns in Arkansas. No idea why round balls are not, even though they are usually more accurate.

Not getting into the BP vs Pyrodex, wizzing contest. I've been using it exclusively, in all three of my black powder firearms, without issues. I started off with a pound of black power, years ago. Never finished the first pound.....ended up giving it away. YMMV.

No problem there Winelover. Saves me the trouble of taking the pictures and posting them. Just keep an eye on the things I mentioned.

I have taken many deer with my ROA, drops them faster then a .44 mag. Trouble is I shoot too fast for the rifling twist rate so distance must be close.
I use 41 gr of Swiss FFFG with a RB for 1102 fps.
