I found what I thought was a real good buy on this one.
It is a used mould , but 20 minutes of light clean up and it
looks real nice.

.45 cal. 225 gr, BB bullet.
May or may not function in a 1911, however I purchased
the mould with the intent of using it in my Smith 625.

That’s a fine looking mold . Nice job. I bet that runs real nice in a 625

This was one of my go-to bullets for the 1911, in both 45acp and 45 Super loads. Bullets were cast of 50/50 mix of WWL and range scrap, with about 1% added tin to get good fill-out. As I recall, it took a little tweaking to get the OAL right for my pistol. I finally set up the seating die using a RN seater, adjusted to the length of a round of factory 230 gr. RN, then seated the truncated cone bullets. I taper-crimped in a separate die.

There is something attractive about a full diameter truncated cone nose with a wide flat tip

Not sure why, but they look like an absolute hammer

I’ve always liked the truncated cone bullet design. They make reloads smooth when using a revolver, and I find them to be very accurate. Like nanuk said they just look good.

Had some time to get outside and cast with the SAECO mould today.

Lubed , sized .452" and ready to load :

Been some time since I've lubed and sized a bevel base bullet.
I kept the lube pressure low. I did not have to stop and clean the .452 " dia. H & I sizing die in my Lyman 45 a single time today. No problems at all with lube getting under the bevel base of the bullet.

Looks a lot like that RCBS 45-225 cav bullet that I like so much. Looked but found its owners more proud of the mold than I was willing to pay.

So I ended up with the Lee, that looks like it.

Actually, It's been pretty good as well.
