About 1 year ago, I sent Erik my 44 Cal, SAECO 446 , 200 gr. , 4 cav. mould for his insert HP conversion.

The work isn't cheap, but it is well worth what I paid.
Erik's work is flawless .

This mold will " rain " hp cast bullets now.

I have an H & R Handi in 44 mag. ,a T/C Contender 14 " , 44 mag., a Smith & Wesson stainless, 6 ", 624 - - .44 Special , A Ruger Super Blackhawk 44 Mag., and a 2" belly gun in 44 spec.

This .431" dia. , 200 gr. HP cast bullet shoots great in all of the above.

I shot this SAECO # 446 bullet recently in .44 Special cases with 3.8 grs. of Clays powder from my Super 14 , 44 Mag Contender ( with 2 X scope ) . The loads in the 1st pic. below were 200 gr. solids.

These are sized .431" and lubed with Ben's Red :

If all else fails you can use a couple of those HP's to make a hot tub, that is a huge cavity.
I love the fact that mould makes both bullets at the same time. Erik does some very nice work.

Erik is top shelf.
I've had him do about a dozen HP , band enlargements, etc.
I've never been the slightest unhappy with anything he has ever done for me.
I would recommend him to anyone.

If used for self defense, I can only assume what those HP's would do on impact.
I've done water test with them, they open up quickly ! !

What would they do? Make a very large hole, just what you are after.
That is a great looking bullet for your 44 special belly gun.

Ben, I really do like that HP! I've got a 2-cavity very similar to it.

Glen,

At 1st , I had some reservations about the accuracy potential of the bullet ( why I don't know ? ? ? ), after shooting the bullet, I have no more reservations about anything !

I have a strong fondness for SAECO #446 as a cast solid. Its weight is proper for use in 44-40 WCF loadings in both my '73 carbine and my Uberti Cattleman revolver, and can do double duty in the 44 Magnums as a light-bullet loading or a duplicator of 44-40 performance. #446 feeds flawlessly in the leverguns and features a generous crimp groove that works well in both the wheelguns and the leverguns to anchor the bullet as seated for the bucking of recoil or for the shunting down a tubular magazine. Its flat nose gives comfort during use in those tubular mags, also. Lyman #427098 often needs a powder column to sit upon for best stability in the 44-40. RL-7 works well for that purpose, but it cannot always be found in these times of depleted component supplies; the crimp groove in SAECO #446 gives a reloader more options in this caliber.
