Smoking Savage deal!

So you guys have seen my Savage 12FV in .223
It's a 26" heavy barrel with an Accutrigger. I picked it up on sale for $319 at Cabelas back in the spring.
These are a Cabelas exclusive rifle.
I just bought another one tonight.
Reg. price is $419
On sale for $319
$100 mail in rebate!
Total cost for a 26" Heavy barrel Savage with Accutrigger cambered in 6.5 Creedmoore
$219!!!!!
This is an ABSOLUTE STEAL in my book!
These rifles are SUPER accurate. My .223 is a sub half MOA gun.
It may sit in the safe for awhile until I can afford scope, mount, rings brass, dies, yadda yadda....

My brother picked one up as well. Just too good of a deal to pass up.
I'm not sure how long the sale goes if anyone is interested.
Calibers available are .223, .308. .22-250, .204 Ruger, 6.5 CM
If your in the market for an affordable and accurate heavy barreled bolt gun these are hard to beat!

you should be able to pick up an 870 express for around 200$ if you look around a little bit.
Remington needs money and are selling off as much of their low end stuff as possible right now.
their gun club shot shells are on sale for 50$ a flat all over the place.
you can pick up their rifle ammo for about 1$ a round, and they are offering sales and rebates on 9mm, 40,45 and 22lr buckets of ammo.

the ones you ain't seeing good sales on are their 870 Wingmaster, 700 rifles, steel shot, STS and Nitro shells type stuff.

I have gotten at least a dozen phone calls on the savage rifles from buddies of mine. I had to draw a line some place.
As you mention it is a super price on entering into a caliber one may not have and wants to try.
I can't even buy a good pre chambered barrel for that!
I have a 223 I had purchased. By the time I got done getting it set up as I wanted it, it was not cheap any more, lol.
I will admit though I am having a very hard time not buying another. Just what I need another project.

I am considering one in 308 for the sole purpose of rebarreling to 358 Win. Good project for me and a cartridge I really think is excellent for cast.

Brad, that's what I did on a 22-250 cheap a few years ago. Found a clearance sale on a 358 barrel kit, came with wrench, go and no-go and some lube and bore cleaner.
Problem is it is in a light magnum contour! My only guess is they have one taper for 35's, as busy has a Whelan with the same contour, which IMHO is still stupid.

I picked up an 80's long action 223. I was going to rebarrel it to shoot 70-80 grain bullets and hope they will feed from the magazine once the spacer is removed. Gent I got it from said it had about 500 rounds through it and was a shooter. I should never have shot it! Just to good to use for parts now, for at least a while.

I watched that and watched that...then Sunday came..( yesterday)...had to go in the direction of Cabelas..checked there adds once again..back up another $50.00...still went in their direction but didn't go there...as the guy said by the time I got the stock I wanted and put it on there along with a trigger guard I figured I would be up another $300.00 plus.....on top of all that a couple of weeks ago I had a Remington 700 VS "C" prefix in .308 with a Leupold Varx111, 6,5x20X come in the Office.... the guy wanted $1,000.00 for the combo...looked to have about 20 rounds through it....dummy me passed 'cause I had one...now if it was in .223 I probably would have gone for it...

As for the Savages...they keep calling... I don't know how much longer I can hold off...the Remingtons for $499.00 keep turning my head as well AND I already have a stock for one...I know that it's more money but my nephew picked up a new Savage 12BVSS in .308 at a LGS for $680..that's a buy...

But the Savages keep calling....did I say that?

You can build a suppressor for under $100, it's that $200 tax and year wait that sucks.

Anybody jump on this deal? I tried and backordered a .223 to use as a donor action for a 20 practical project. We'll see how it goes.

I bought a .223 back in April. I love that thing! sub 1/2 moa at 100 with jacketed.
It might take me awhile to get this new one put together.IMG_1242.JPG

My will power is holding out still for my suppressor. But it has been put to the test more than once in the last couple of days. Tonight I found an AR15 complete kit .223 18" Hbar barrel. All that was needed is the lower and a BCG for under 340$ + free shipping

That's good to hear. If it works out and I end up getting one, maybe I will shoot with the current barrel a bit to see how accurate it is before I take it off and start a new project with it.
