Strange range session today

Another option for light loads in .44 is to use .44 Special brass. You get higher load density in the smaller capacity brass giving better burn efficiency at the lower velocity you desire.

H-110/WW-296 is just a PITA unless using J-words and running them at full-tilt. It is very good in that niche, but only in that realm. I don't travel there much these days.

I agree with the 'barrel time' explanation, esp. in wheelguns.

I think 296 really shines in 30 carbine and in full tilt cast 44mag loads.. I don't use them anywhere else...

Midrange loads in the double 4 are typically unique or equivalent

When you want to get the most velocity you can out of a straight walled magnum cartridge, like say a 357 mag or 44 mag- H110/WW296 is the way to go.

But I agree with CZ93x62 H110 is a PITA if you're not pushing the envelope.

I keep H110 on the shelf and I load a few cartridges with it every year, but not many. I shoot just enough magnums to keep some proficiency in that arena, but I shoot FAR more standard velocity rounds.

110 is great in the 357 Maximum with 180's

don't do this.

i don't even use a book to look up 110 loads.
i measure where the base of the bullet will sit in the case and fill to that line with powder.
weigh it and add another grain for start data.
