The purchase of Thompson Center

I don't know who Gregg Ritz is, but more power to him!

I hope they focus on TCs niche arms and avoid the "me-too" inline MLs and plastic-stocked bolt-actions. Maybe they need to make that stuff to survive, but I hope mostly they bring back stuff which was exclusive to TC.

I don't personally need any more stuff, but I like that TC will be available to others who might have missed out on it. Too much good stuff got displaced in the most recent AR/plastic-pistol hysteria. Nothing wrong with that stuff, but the "biological diversity" of firearms took a huge hit in the past several years.

I hope it drives barrel costs down to sensible levels and avaliblity of good calibers!

Yeah,... staggering! I had a thought of adding a barrel recently and by the time I priced up a 24" tapered barrel with no sights, I was looking at $600.

That ended that little excursion from my simplification plan right quick. Again - I'd love for others getting into shooting to have some of this neat stuff and be able to afford it to boot.

I have many T/C rifles and pistols.
I hope repair parts will be available.

We CAN at least get original Contender parts now, thanks to SSK. I need to put together a list and order a spare parts kit for mine, but keep putting it off.

Not sure what all this guy is bringing back, but I know TC traditional ML parts are high.

Well there is a OBVIOUS market. Look at the love of the H&Rs and NEF guns. CVA has a number if guns. Stevens has a H&R copy. Rossi makes one too. But largely a good quality unit is absent. Henry also has a single shot and there are only ones I see as "nicer" being they offer walnut and blued steel.

The Browning 1878 and Winchester Hi walls and Ruger #1's & 3's are all but gone.

The Encore was a hot commodity the was near Contender is legendary.

I bought my first complete Contender brand new in the store at full retail for $125.00.

I seem to remember he was a spokesman for one of the outdoor manufacturers until he got busted for a pretty well publicized poaching wrap.

No matter I would love to see TC make a comeback. They never really recovered after the fire. S&W did the company no favors when they took it over.

TC has to do good barrels, i've seen what S&W did and a good barrel was once in a blue moon. S&W made the chamber (crooked) off center then you are giving up much accuracy potential. it is a good why i bought MGM Encore barrels.

I had explored an MGM 24", chrome-moly, no taper barrel, about 525, and this was without D/T for a front sight. Ow, ow, ow... I decided not to go that way.

i really don't like the factory Encore barrels, as you can see the 20 Vartarg, 444 Marlin and 500 Linebaugh, TC doesn't have them. before S&W, the Contender barrels are great. i have a 7x30 Waters (Dad's gun RIP) that he shot a group of about 1/4" at 100 yards (5 shots/bench) it would usually go 3/8 - 5/8" group with the 3/8" group was normal. i bought three different caliber that are the barrel length, 10". 22 Hornet, 30 and 357 Herrett. the last time i shot a handcannon it was 10 or 11 years ago. i had a Encore with 15" MGM barrel in 6.5CM. i did 1/2 - 3/4" group at 100 yards (5 shots/bench), but to reach it, took me about 1 year. i had relearn how to shoot after my stroke. (and shoot one handed.) the big thing for me was the rifle's report and the flinching. i had to do that all over again. ehhhhh...........

I'm not up on my TC history, but this guy was once owner of TC?

"As former owner of Thompson/Center Arms, a seasoned media & manufacturing entrepreneur and television host of the top-rated, award-winning Hunt Masters series on Outdoor Channel, Ritz has an intimate understanding of the needs and desires of outdoor enthusiasts."

I'm being as positive a I can about this. There's a lot of what seems like puffery in the intro, so I hope it all leads to something productive anyway.
