To much loaded ammo!

There is probably no such thing as "to much loaded ammo", however, about 3 weeks ago, I looked around my loading room, and found I had hardly any empty rifle brass to load other than 223 and 06, and I have an over abundance of that loaded. So I decided that in order for me to have a respectable quantity of rifle brass for me to load this fall and winter, had better get my tail in gear and start shooting more rifle.

(I do shoot a fair amt of handgun at an indoor range once a week) and have plenty of handgun fodder loaded, and a few thousand empties.

Any how, I intend to shoot at least 150-200 centerfire rounds at least once a week (twice a week if time allows) until I get at least 2500-3000 empties. Today it was a few rounds of 223, and 150 rounds of 222. Last week it was 303's, 06's (for my Bubba 06), and 30-30's, about 175 rounds. Next time out, will be 30-30's, 7.5 Swiss, and 7.62 Mosin for both the 91 and 38. Tis a work of love to spend 2-3 hours of trigger time as I normally only shoot maybe 100 rounds of centerfire max at a time when I go to the range. Think I will spend some time the next time out shooting at least 100 rounds offhand.

Could always just buy more brass so you have something to load next winter. ;)

Ian, he gave me something like 500 rounds of various 44 mag ammo to shoot up. I haven't made time for that yet.
I am the opposite. I rarely have 10% of my brass loaded. I often want to shoot but have to load ammo the day before so I can shoot.

Brad, think that could be because you waste so much time in the evil pursuit of earning a living?

Paul does have a point, though, if you look at "too much loaded ammo" from the standpoint of having a fat dog means you aren't getting enough exercise.

Tis true, and I have proof.
I present exhibit A-

These starving children want food. Don't they look pathetic sitting there waiting.

Now I present exhibit B-

These adults are starving. Been starving so long they aren't as shiny as the last time I seen them.

And finally exhibit C-

These fat kids need slimmed and are thirsty.

While that is 6000+ rifle cases & 2k+ pistol bullets, it's only a small portion of the neglected, doesn't even count the buckets & large bags of pistol supplies. I estimate I'm 3yrs behind.

So, uh, looks like I need a Paul in my reloading room, & Paul needs a fast trigger presser. See where I'm going with that;)...

Rick is correct, a job is a loaded ammo killer.
Freebullet, what we really need is retirement.

Three things you can never have too much of: Guns, Ammo and money.

The hard part is to have all three. Seems the more guns, the more ammo the less money. Always seems to work that way for me.

KHornet, I'm with you. I always have 30 - 50 thousand rounds loaded, and not even enough brass for experimentation.
Time to go shooting.

Retirement is good I admit! However the big drawback for it, in most cases
comes with old age, however that beats the alternative.

Nothing like having plenty of ammo but it's just a pile of assembled components unless you use it. I'm like you in that I also am retired. I try to shoot Tuesday & Thursday to keep the amount of loaded ammo in check. It's a job but someone has to do it.

At large, whereabouts unknown.
A house across town from us had a gas explosion and was completely blown up. The owners are in the hospital, and (thankfully) it appears they will recover. The local news printed a paragraph about the gas explosion, then went nuts because there were "a couple of hundred" rounds of loaded ammo in the house. The local Fire Chief said he was grateful there were no loaded guns, or they might have hurt somebody, or struck another house. A total of forty houses in the neighborhood were damaged by the explosion, and the ammo was his biggest concern?

A "couple of hundred" rounds of ammunition. Rookie....

Good thing that gas explosion wasn't in L.A, would have come out in the news the ammo was the cause of the explosion.

Funny the rather indiscreet person who obviously capitalized on his 15 seconds of fame to throw in his entirely irrelevant libtard point of view (don't they all?) didn't mention the multiple gallons of raw gasoline in the car fuel tank, the bleach and phosphates in the laundry room and under the kitchen sink, and all the hairspray pipe bombs in the bathroom. I do believe Einstein was correct, Stupidity is the most abundant element in the universe.

The first news reports said the home owner was "manufacturing" ammunition & explosives in his garage, and that the Fire Department was trying to determine if that was the cause of the explosion.

Lets see, how much smokeless powder does it take to equal the potential damage caused by a natural gas leak in your home?

I worry more about the gas in cans in my garage than I do powder in my basement.
